my 1 year old female started farting a few months back. first time i smelled it i thought she might of stepped in something. well not so. i have read that it has something to do with the short face and they way they breath that cause this. i mean they are really strong, and i mean strong.

Yes frenchies are known to be a little gassy, but I would take a look at what you are feeding. We are lucky and don't really have a problem with this.

Food could very well be the culprit. Buster lets little "velvet poofs" that are infrequent and non-toxic.

i feed her High Prairie for puppies, Roasted venison & Bison. she been eating it since she turned 6 months and now she is one year. my pug eats High Prairie = Wetlands = Roasted Fowl. been thinking of switching her onto it. then they both eat the same. by the way = my pug doesnt fart. something else i was thinking though, im still feeding her twice a day = 1/2 cup each time. maybe im feeding her to much, although she doest look fat.

Diet change might reduce excessive farting, however, most frenchies I know tend to fart quite a bit
also adding some probiotic to the food might help.

well really its kinda funny. adds to there charm. dont think there going to add that not to there description = sturdy, loving, they snore, and by the way they also fart. lol. yeah, hey does your frenchie snore, yeah and also farts. lol

Most likely food issue.... try adding some plain yogurt... if that does not help, you may need to change food/protien

found out that taste of the wild has a food just for small dogs, im going to try that. think she should be able to go on adult food now, seeing as she is a year old.

still is kinda funny. a farting frencie. Olivia the gassy girl.

definitely adult food... they can go on adult any time after 8 mths of age.... wonder if it is due to still being on the puppy food :ponder:

I feed Wally lactose free probiotic yogurt to help with his farts. He still farts but it's not as bad as it used to be.

going to switch her to taste of the wild = Appalachian valley small breed = venison & garbanzo beans, although i have second thoughts when any food says it contains beans.

Like others have said its probably the food. We are going through the same thing. Smelly and also not solid poops. Sometimes its just trial and error with these situations! Good luck with the new food and keep us posted on if it helps!

watched a dog special on tv and one of the dogs was a bulldog, said they fart a lot, i mean a lot. went on to say you need to be really tolerant or have a lot of air fresheners. something about there large mouth gasping air when they eat, anyway if its normal for the English bulldog then i can se its going to be normal for the Frenchie. really its kinda funny. unless she is sitting in your lap when she does it.

that is not feeding too much! We feed our 6 month more than that

switched her, and my pug, to Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley Small Breed Dry Dog Food is made with highly digestible venison protein and garbanzo beans in a small kibble size. funny = doesnt seem anything with beans is going to make things better. oh well its funny when you think about it. the farty frenchie.
