Hi,

Hoping to get some advice in choosing a pet insurance company for our 4month old French Bulldog - she has no medical issues but we did bring her to the 24/7 emergency vet once when she was moaning in pain, and sitting in strange positions (which she still sits funny but no pain) and seemed like she couldn't walk and her leg was bothering her. Nothing was diagnosed and she's been fine since but I am worried the insurance companies will count it as preexisting for anything possible in the future like hip dysplasia because they will try to say she exhibited signs. Thanks!

I have VPI and I have been satisfied with them. I got as soon as I got Jax. If you do get pet insurance, I suggest getting it as soon as possible. I believe that if there was no diagnosis from the ER vet, it wouldn't be considered as a pre-existing condition to the insurance company.

I pay about $46 a month and that is for a wellness plan and a major medical plan. For the major medical plan, I have a $250 deductible.

Ok. I pay 353 USD a year for a petinsurance. It covers wellness, surgery, diagnostics. There is a limit a year for how much they will accept. They accept expences up to 3743 USD a year. All insurances here have a limit a year. Is that the same everywhere?

I'm not sure about all the companies here, but at least with VPI there is no yearly limit anymore, if I am remembering correctly. I think the yearly limit used to be $12,000 or something like that but I believe they got rid of that last year.

I have Healthy Paws and have been very satisfied. $250 deductible . About $40 per month no lifetime limits. I do agree it's best to get insurance soon if you are going to . Seems to affect cost the older a pup or dog gets

I agree, do ASAP. When I adopted my 5 yr old frenchie, she had an ear infection and mouth tumour so the pet insurance that I was going to enroll with said they would exclude anything in the mouth or ears for a year, then re-evaluate. Needless to say I didn't take out any pet insurance. It's very hit or miss whether the pet insurance will be worth getting, since they usually have a 250.00 deductable and will increase your monthly fees after a year, but it's worth getting for a pure breed like a bulldog I think.
