Hey everyone,

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for pet insurance. I have done my research but there are soo many options out there I am really struggling to make a decision.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

P.s I apologize if this is not the correct forum to post this in!

I have Nationwide (formerly VPI) for both my Frenchie and my bulldog. I have the whole pet with wellness plan and I am glad I do. Jax is 4 years old and was diagnosed with IVDD in July and needed surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck. After all was said and done, the total bill was just under $9,000. I got 90% of that back. He now gets acupuncture and laser therapy which is covered as well.

One thing I will add is that if you are going to get insurance, it is better to do it sooner rather than later as no company will cover pre-existing conditions so it is better to get it before an issue arises and a diagnosis is made.

We are "self insured" but sure could have used insurance when Buster tore his ACL in both hind legs. That set us back about $7,000, but he is as good as new now!

Hi there, I use Trupanion. They have a $250 deductible and then cover 90% of total cost. This was especially helpful when Emma got gastritis from eating a hibiscus plant and spent overnight at the ER. The bill was 2K but I ended up paying about $350 total. They do not cover basic upkeep like shots and spaying.
