I've switched Safari to fromms beef frittata recently but he's still pooping 6-7 times a day. I know this is a sign of feeding too much but I feel like he would look skinny if I cut back any. I also read this is a sign that the nutrients are being absorbed. Do you think if I switched to a different flavor it would be better? He is 1 year old

My 1 year old has been on Fromms pork and peas since we got her. She has always pooped a lot. Always. A lot! It always amazes me how such a little do can have so much poop in her! We do not overfeed - she gets 1 to 1 and 1 /4 cups per day broken out into two meals. We just recently adopted a 7 month old frenchie puppy and he poops a lot too! He was on a different food but we have transitioned him to the Fromm. He still poops a lot.

So I have come to the conclusion that some frenchies are just full of poop, lol . Not sure if this helped or not, but wanted you to know that you are not alone.

Anns4boys. - LOL you made me laugh! Thanks for the poop support! I guess our guys are full of it!:beer::beer::beer::facepalm:

Ours only poop about twice a day, sometime maybe three times. We feed FROMM 4 star food also. Our adult females only get 1/2 cup twice a day and Henri gets a little more, maybe 3/4 cup twice a day, and that's it, except for a treat a few times a day. Now a young pup will poop more per day, but by the time they get close to 1 year of age that should slow down.

Jax usually poops twice a day. Sometimes it will be once and sometimes it will be 3 times but twice is the normal for him. He is 2 and gets 1/2 cup of kibble twice a day.

hmmmm ive been feeding 3/4 a cup twice a day, ill lower it to 1/2 cup and see. thanks guys!

Buster is half OEB and half Frenchie so he is 40 lbs. He gets 3/4 cup of NVI Ltd. Ingredient kibble twice a day. He is a very regular twice daily pooper!

Isabelle is just over 1 year old, gets 1/2 cup of Fromm Game Bird twice a day. Poops twice, 3 times a most a day.

Titan is 7 months, eats 1/2 cup 3 times daily (he was sickly so we have to continue this) and poops probably 10 times a day, no matter what. If he goes pee? He moves on and poops. It's crazy! I'm hoping it slows down soon!

My two are on grain free and potatoe fee kibbles and Jake gets 1/2 C 2X/day and Stella gets more like 3/4 C 2X/day topped with some freeze dried chicken. Stella will poop 2 - 3 times per day and Jake 2 times per day. I think the food they eat has a lot to do with their waste output. Is there a lot of fiber in the food you are feeding? You could try a different flavor and see if that helps slow down the number of poops. Are you giving him any treats that could be affecting it? Good luck.

Cheli is on Fromm Pork and Peas and I feed him 1/2 cup twice a day..... he :poo: maybe 3 times a day, but they are small amounts

I haven't been giving him any treats because I feel like we are half way there to getting his allergies under control. I bought the big bag (40 lbs) I think of the beef frittata so that will last a while but I'll definitely try a different flavor next time. I have noticed a huge improvement in his coat since the change to fromms. He seems slow to mature so maybe he's still in the puppy mode of pooping all the time? I've lowered his food from 3/4 cups twice a day to 1/2 cup twice a day and still 6 poops a day.

How old is he?

My 7 month old was sick, and the vet suggested a B12 shot, hasn't pooped more than3 times a day since!

Just a thought to consider!

My vet said her frenchies poop 3-5 times a day as adults. But she has 12 of them... So it doesn't even matter how many times since there are probably 100 poops a day LOL!

i cant imagine having 12 snoring farting machines, lots of cuddles, but when their crazies kick in i bet its madness! haha safari turned 1 in april. ill have to look into the B12 shot. thanks for the recommendation! i cut his food back a bit, but its still 5-6 times a day, but the size is just smaller each time.

She said they zoomie like crazy lol & wrestle all day

I might go crazy literally LOL

I wish I could train mine out of the wrestling so much & so hard! I couldn't do it with 12, plus work, plus she's a breeder so puppies? No [emoji23]

Moses is little over a year now and poops normally twice a day. He has been doing so quite some time now.

He had some skin issues earlier and food allergies were one of the possibilities. During that period we transitioned him frequently to find proper diet.

He went through whole of Orijen diet selection, Ziwipeaks, mix with raw and now is on Canagan. His poop quality has significantly improved and I think he is also farting slightly less. He is also crazy of this food.
As for Mo it seems that food and poop goes pretty much hand in hand.

Our new baby Jax poops up to 7 times a day. We feed him Wellness Core grain free puppy food. 1/4-1/2 cup 3 times a day (usually he eats only 1/4 cup) His mom was feeding him a non grain free food which made him super constipated. With both he cries and cries after every poo, runs around like a panic attack. I don't know if I didn't transition him long enough (about 1/2 a week) or if this new food isn't good either. So I am wondering if I should try a home made bland diet? But I'm not sure what to feed him.

Is a cup and a half too much for a 5 month old frenchie? What do you guys recommend?

Has Jax's vet been made aware of the crying/panic after he uses the bathroom?

1 1/2 cups of food a day shouldn't be too much. Mine were both at 2 cups spread out during the day as puppies, now they both eat 1 1/2 cups a day, plus a half to a whole banana at breakfast. And various other fruits.

It seems like he doesn't agree with the food... Puppies have sensitive digestive systems, plus frenchies are notorious for sensitive tummies so I would take a look at the Dog food and home cooking section of the forum, switch him to the bland chicken diet for a week to reset his system, and then slowly transition him back to a new selection of grain-free dog food.

Our vet told us that basically all of the proteins besides chicken and fish are too rich for our puppy, and to definitely switch to a chicken based food and it helped a lot now that he's been on it about a month and a half (Chicken a la veg FROMM - not grain free but I didn't want to leave the Fromm foods).

I hope you get it sorted out! Jax is ADORABLE!

Ya, the vet said that he just has puppy anxiety and he should get over it, but to me it seems more like pain. Do you know if it is ok to give the puppies the fruit, or should i wait until he is older? I think I will ween him off of what I have now and try another food, I was thinking about FROMM
And thank you, I am so in love with him, I have so much fun taking pictures of him. :D

I've given mine bananas, blueberries and watermelon since they were babies. Just do it in small servings at first and watch to see how their tummies handle it. Bananas are the easiest to introduce :)

And Fromm is a great food. So many of us use it here. And they have great customer service!
