Hey Everyone,

My puppy is 14 weeks old and he went to the vet today. He received several vaccines around 1:30pm. I had him in the car with me and then we went to pick up my husband. I had the heater on when in the car and outside it's very cold and rainy. He didn't spend any time outside except to get in and out of the car which he was carried. By 5:30pm on the drive home, he vomited. Ever since then he keeps making a noise like some of it went down the wrong pipe. He was acting normal and following me around as usual. He even ate dinner. I made sure his bowl was raised too and made sure he drank water. Now he is taking a nap quietly, but I am constantly checking on him to make sure he's okay. I think if it was an allergic reaction, it would have happened right after, right? Has anyone else experienced this with their puppy?

It could have been a reaction to the vaccines. He should be OK now. Next time he gets his shots tell the vet to pre-medicate him so he will not have a reaction to them. Benedryl helps, but if they are vomiting, they will not keep it down, and they need a shot to help. Just watch him for the next couple of days to make sure he doesn't get fluid in his lungs if he aspirated any vomit, which will turn into aspiration pneumonia.

Another thought could be he got motion sickness from being in the car. That happens quite frequently with Jax, especially if he is in the car for longer than 10 minutes. I always roll the window that he is sitting near down so he can get fresh air. It doesn't always work but I do think it helps a bit.

Has he ever gotten car sick before? Jake gets car sick quite often if we are in the car for quite some time.

How is he doing?

Hey everyone,

Thank you for all the feedback. Sebastian is doing fine now. I talked to the vet that night too. He said nervousness and stress from the vet appt could also have caused him to vomit. But it definitely could have been car sickness as well. That was the first time he got sick in the car. I don't think he does well with heat either. Unfortunately, where I'm at the Temps are in the 30s so heat is necessary but I try to not make it too hot for him. I appreciate everyone's concern. Thank you!
