Question about the puppy we may get

So this is our first frenchie. We have saved up for a year for one and have done a lot of research. We found a merle that we really like but I have a question about the pup's father.

I know the breed usually has an unproptional head to its body but I'm not sure if this is normal breed standard size? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Here is a picture of the dad, the mama and the puppy we really want.

Not a dumb question at all; always better to ask before purchasing a puppy.

I'm sure others will weigh-in, and I'm sure most will be more knowledgeable than I am.

Just my opinion, but the proportions seem off with the father.

I personally would never buy a Merle. They are usually mixed with another breed to get that color and can have a ton of issues.

I agree. The father's head looks okay to me--a lot depends on the angle the picture was taken from. The mom looks like a normal fawn Frenchie, but she must have a recessive gene for the "blue" color. I don't know what the breeder did to get that designer stud, but I would RUN, not walk away from them. They are obviously breeding for top $$$$$ rather than good health. Among the health problems with "blues" are skin issues, eye issues, etc.

All puppies are darling, however, a merle is not a purebred frenchie, if that is what you are looking for. Since you have waited so long and saved so diligently, I'd hang in there and do some more research on the breed. Find a reputable breeder and get on a waiting list if you have to. Time passes and you will get your little one. Bambi was three when we got her (retired breeder). I cannot imagine a more wonderful dog. It didn't matter to us but she was pretty inexpensive compared to a puppy. Good luck.

Would not purchase a merle... nit part of the breed and tend to have more health issues

Those puppies are damn adorable but I agree with those that say to find another breeder. The father looks off, but it could be the picture angle.
