Questions about Brachycephalic syndrome surgery

Hello all!
I've been thinking a lot lately about my frenchies breathing issues. Even though he is happy and running around a lot i noticed how he seems to have a lot of chest congestion (gargling sounds), snores like crazy and he seems to struggle a little while breathing thru his nose. I want to make sure he has a long and healthy life and started looking to inform myself more about the surgery. First, i cant seem to find a vet that specializes on these issues. Second, i am terrified of loosing him to surgery (just lost our pug last December, cant bear another loss now). As much information and advice anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Does sound from your info that he at least needs to be evaluated .

To help loosen the phlegm build up, squirt some lemon juice in his mouth -- it breaks it up.

Where are you located, we halve a sister sight with a list of recommended vets for bulldogs.. might be one near you
