Pup will be 3 months on monday. She has i guess a recessed vulva, breeder did not disclose this and it was only because how filthy she was down there upon arivial (ground transport) that i bagun poking around down there, it was very dirty almost muddy up in there.. well puppy visit to a vet that i will never go to again ( she was very rude, clearly doesnt like frenchies and kept calling the breed "not very smart, and i dont know why people buy theese thing") anyways she said that she will need surgery someday to fix that but in the mean time dont mess with it or i can cause infection... next week we were back at vet (NEW frenchie friendly vet) he said that she has a teribly recessed vulva and that i need to be poping it out to clean it several times a day with sensitive baby wipes.that she will more then likely get utis and and that she should be allowed a first heat to see if that helps then spayed 4 weeks after. and have the surgery to fix it if it. OK heres the questions....Is that info right? anyone have experience with this? Please share any tips, tricks or oppinions... also shouldnt the breeder have disclosed? i asked her if that was a normal thing and she says 10% of her girls have it. THANK YOU

Well sorry you have to put up with that. The second vet is right. I would do just that, let her have one heat, then a month or so after she is out of heat, have her spayed and get it fixed at that time. Until then, just keep it clean and wipe back there every time she pees, and you should be fine. If the breeder said that 10% of her girls have it, then she needs to quit breeding that combination, or figure out which one (sire or dam) is passing this down and not breed that dog again, it is hereditary.

I agree to a certain extent, very tight Vulva is actually pretty common in the breed as well as lopsided Vulva, Especially in very young pups! Until they grow up and out, who knows how all of that down there will rest as bulldogs change tremendously in the first year.

I guess my question would be how deeply set she is. You will certainly want to go through one, if not two heat cycles to help bring it out more. Keeping her wiped down with a baby wipe isn't the best idea though, as additional moisture may lead to more yeast growth and basically it will make it worse not better. I would use something strong on it just to rid the area of bacteria and yeast first, then maintain it with which hazel on a baby wipe. Make sure if you wash the area with any soapy products to rinse extra well as soap reside also feeds yeast!

She may be ok once she gets some tlc from you, all bulldogs need some help in cleaning themselves since they cannot reach, so know you are not alone!

That looks fairly deep from the photo, but hopefully with some TLC she will not have any problems.

Thank you! It is really deep..and being that i live in drought usa, (southern cali) my back yard is all dirt and she lays in it to pee so gets filthy :(....... any which hazel? Ive never bought it before

I cannot believe what the first vet said to you!!! Seriously I am in shock. That is so unacceptable.

Ya i know! The sad thing is that she was a colleague of my moms and my mom passed 3 yrs ago, my mom would have went off on her if she was here.
