Anyone know what these red spots might be? We noticed them a few days ago. They don't seem to be bothering him. Rooney is 3 years old. We just had a back issue and a pinched nerve. Everything has cleared up with meds but we are resting him for 3 more weeks (6 total). Not complete crate rest but walks, no jumping etc. I wondered if maybe his mouth is irritated because he's been doing so much more chewing, that's kind of his main activity right now in his limited state. He's been off his meds 2 weeks now so I don't think it's any kind of reaction. I plan to take him to the vet if it doesn't change in a week. The marks have seemed lighter to me but I am really not sure. Thanks for your help! 20190704_202758.webp

Are you referring to the red marking above the lip? Do they have any bumps or is it smooth

Yes, they are mostly smooth. Maybe slightly raised.

Could he be leaning on the crate while in it during the day, almost looks like the rails of a crate

Kind of looks like skin was scraped off eg. by rubbing against cage and hasn't gotten any pigment yet.

Oh that's an interesting thought. Could be. He's only ever supervised or in his crate. I am trying to avoid going to the vet after all the money we spent with the back stuff. Hopefully it just heals up on its own
