Hi!

So I currently have 1 frenchie, Mateo, he's 8 months and is so well behaved, quiet and super lazy. He is also very social. He is the most low maintence dog and I really am interested in getting another Frenchie so he has a companion and I honestly want another. I live in an apartment over 1,000 square feet with a second bedroom where there is enough room for a big play pen. He isn't fixed. I just was wondering recommendations and home situations and if it's harder to take care of. Also, I work during the day but my boyfriend works nights so he's home during the day, so usually someone is always home with Mateo. Please help!

Hi,
First of all welcome to a great site. There are some wonderful, knowledgeable people here.
Congrats on your frenchie!!
They're only the most wonderful breed in the world!! Of course, I may be biased.
As for an answer to your question, you realize that you're asking this question on a frenchie site, you may get some other biased answers.
My answer... Yes!! Indubitibly!! :D We have had (and currently have) two frenchies for years.
We currently also have a female pug.
Two frenchies are twice the fun!! Actually, we prefer to have at least two dogs because they keep each other company when no one is home.
We thoroughly enjoy watching them play and wrestle.
A young frenchie especially has a lot of energy and another frenchie will help expend that energy!!
Our Charlie is 7 months old.
Our 6 year old Sofi, 5 year old Sammie and he have a blast playing together. Great entertainment!!
They do love their humans so it's great that someone will be home with them most of the time

Good looking little man in your avatar! Please post more pics!!
Best of luck!!!

Absolutely, The more the merrier. :)

Mateo is a cutie!!

My Gus is not quite 6 mos and I already want a second. I'm just having more trouble than I anticipated getting my husband on board. :( Sounds like you have a nice set up. I say, as long as you have the time, patience, and money, go for it!!! :)

Yes! But again it's a biased response.

We have owned several dogs and rarely have had only one. Our Louie is almost 11 months and we added Brie to the family just over a month ago. Though there was an adjustment period, they LOVE each other! Nothing is more fun that watching the two of them play together, we barely watch TV anymore[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].

Thank you! I appreciate the response! Mateo is so lazy but when it comes to all other dogs he gets so excited and just wants to play. He has never disliked any dog he has met and when we go to the dog park he loves even just watching other dogs. I can tell he wants a friend and plus I want another one. I was just unsure of the setup... I have never had 2 dogs only one at once. This helps!!:) the breeder where we got him has another frenchie that looks like it could be Mateo's twin! Having 2 little look alikes would be the best! I love pups!! I am a sucker for Smushed faces! Im glad to hear that they play so well. How does the pug differ from your frenchies?

How do the english bull dogs behavior differ from the frenchies? I have always loved all bulldog breeds!:)

We also love the Smush faces!! Pugs & frenchies have similar personalities. I'm sure that they vary like frenchies between individuals but they are affectionate and sweet. Our Sammie is a good little alarm. She seems to like to bark more than our frenchies. She also has a double coat and sheds a lot when she goes through her coat. Some pugs have a single coat and some a double coat. We got lucky and Sammie has two. **
Both our frenchies like to walk around and explore in our backyard especially when we're both sitting outside with them. The pug will be out for a few minutes and goes to her spot on the back of our couch like a cat. She's only five, but really enjoys "couch potato time".
The frenchies are more comical and playful. She joins in most of the time though.
Hope that helps!!

As with most beings... they all are different. They can be more stoic and lazy, but some have the energy of a lab.
I have had three EBDs over the past 14 years.. all three were totally differ. Our first was the true bulldog .. lazy, easy going and loved everything and every one. Our second, female, HATED other dogs, especially long haired dogs, was incredibly dominate and had the energy of a lab! Our current boy, is a clown, very lazy .. will put the least amount of effort into everything expect playing with an orange tennis ball.. just LOVES to sleep.

If you can afford to care for a 2nd frenchie, then by all means I vote yes! Jake is very laid back but loved other dogs so much we wanted to get him a playmate when he was 10 months old. Stella is a snarky brat, but it works out because they are so opposite.

A second dog is always a good idea so they can have company when no one is home.

We had Uma first, a Boston Terrier. We wanted a different dog as a second dog and after my husband told me no to a rottweiler we decided on a Frenchie. The plan was to get a more laid back dog to try and calm down Uma, who is a typical high energy terrier. What we got was a hyper Frenchie who acts like a Boston. lol! Oh well, we love Wally just the way he is. :)

I would love more than anything to have two frenchies that play! Ginger and Bambi get along great but they don't play or lay next to each other. Ginger is 13 and has really slowed down.

Concerning getting another frenchie, I say go for it!

Say it ain't so!

Yes unfortunately she is. She air snaps at feet, at other dogs, food guards, is OCD with fetch, pulls on the leash chasing after cars, joggers, bicycles, etc. :rundog: Very high maintenance frenchie. She is going to be four years old next month and has not calmed down one bit. We still love her though.:)

Haha! Oh my goodness!!! I have to say, that is my one fear about adding a second. Gus is just so sweet, social, and easy going. Glad she's well loved. You'd never know she was so sassy from her pic. What a cutie. :)

Wally's personality twin!

I say GO FOR IT!!! 2 dogs are better than one! We have an almost 11 year old English Bulldog and Buster, almost 5, and half English, half French Bulldog (breeder error). When Buster was a baby Ruggles became Mr. Mom and then a perfect big brother. When Ruggles passes we will get a Frenchie because Buster isn't cut out to be an only dog. Actually, I would get another English/French blend is one were available!
