good afternoon all!

After almost 3 months of chowder being @ our home, my girlfriend and I have decided to let chowder sleep on our bed this morning. He immediately got on our bed and cuddled right in between us and fell asleep!

Do any of you guys let your dog sleep with you at night, and in the morning when you go to work or whatever leave them inside a playpen / Confined area?

how was that transition?

let me know some pros and cons of your frenchies sleeping on your bed.

Thank you :)

I will sometimes take a 'nap' with Bear alone in bed, but he doesn't usually sleep with us at night.

I'm not a very snuggly sleeper anyway, and Bear really doesn't like my room fans blowing on him + he really likes his crate anyway, so it works out!

The first time Jax slept in the bed with us, he was about 4 months old (last August) and he has been in the bed with us ever since! He gives great cuddles but he can sometimes be a bed hog! He stays asleep on the bed while I get ready for work. When he is home alone, he is confined to the kitchen with a bed, a couple toys and water. I think he would be quite upset if he had to go back to sleeping in the kitchen at night.

Jake sleeps in bed with us. This is the first dog we have owned that was allowed this luxury. But Jake's disposition seemed fine to have this privilege. I don't want to create small dog syndrome where he thinks everything belongs to him and this is his house, his bed, his couch, his food, his human, etc. He is very laid back and a really good boy. But if I had a frenchie that was slightly aggressive or territorial and barking all the time, may give it a 2nd thought. I think it is important for dogs to have a good leader...can be difficult at times, but so worth it down the line. On the other hand our little Stella is 10 mos. old and she is food aggressive (with dogs, not us) and VERY high strung. She is afraid of everything and likes to chase everything. It is almost like the volume is up a little too loud in her brain. She most likely will never sleep in bed with us.:(

:yes4: We have TWO that sleep with us---Bindie the "Blonde" is 18 mos....she does not crowd or cause any issues and when we added her little sister Meanie, we let her jump in 2 weeks ago (she is now 4 1/2 months old)---she wakes us up (well my husband) by licking his ears anywhere between 3:30 and 5:30 am for a potty then comes right back in and goes back to sleep! They will crate when we ask them , but both of these guys have been a pleasure to house train! gerls.jpg

I am a light sleeper and am allergic to dogs so my boys aren't allowed to sleep in my bed!

Sometimes when I am gone at night, Bev will let Hazel sleep in the bed with her. When we are gone, they all are in their crates.

Hudson sleeps in bed when my boyfriend isn't here. He's crated otherwise and doesn't seem to have too much of a preference either way. Though he does love to nap and snuggle in the bed in the day time when I am home.

Yes, Cheli has slept with us since being potty trained. He curls up next to me and when we leave for work he is crated. The only con to him sleeping with us... he is a portable heater!

Lol on this subject again...

My husband left early to go surfing, so I brought Bear in bed, and we were both curled on our sides facing eachother, with our heads on my pillow, and we just gazed at eachother with sleepy eyes until I guess I fell asleep. Lol. It was a really nice morning :)

This was chowder this morning. He slept in the crate last night, but we let him come and snuggle up this morning :) Screen Shot 2014-08-29 at 11.06.17 AM.jpg

Aww what a cute pic!

My husband does not like dogs in the bed, so Piper sleeps in bed with me after I work a night shift.

Spoiled number one and spoiled number two have been sleeping in bed with us since about 11 to 12 weeks old. I tried the crate thing and after numerous nights of no sleep I gave up and put them in bed with me and I have been able to sleep ever since. Batty gets off the bed between 3 and 5 each morning and I'm a light sleeper normally so I get up and take him out and we go right back to bed till 6ish.... Both are good boys but the bed is crowded and they have to sleep touching one of us so it gets difficult to move sometimes. LOL

The first few Months Maple slept in her crate at night. She didnt mind. Then I gave it a try and had her sleep outside her crate in our bedroom. But after 3 days of nighly jumping on the bed and off the bed, walking around the room and playing I gave up and she had to go back in her crate at night.
Now for the last couple months she has been sleeping on the couch in our living room. Our bedroom is downstairs and she hates the stairs so that lets mommy & daddy sleep well too :p
