I made Twiggy an appointment to be spayed next Tuesday. I think we will do her nares too. I've worked there for 19 years. We spay dogs every day. I've seen so many spays, and we haven't ever lost one but I am worried sick! I explain to people all the time how it's fine and they have nothing to worry about, and I believe it 100%. Why am I so worried???? Please everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Awww I can totally relate. I have been going to the same vet for 20+ years and when it was time to have Jake neutered I demanded to speak to him over the phone first. My vet was kind of insulted at first, but then realized I just needed to be reassured and he explained to me that things have to be done a little differently with brachy breeds and then I felt reassured that Jake was in good hands. I'm sure she will do fine. I think a shopping trip for some new toys and treats is in order though!

It is natural for you to be worried over your baby.
We are always a nervous wreck when Mo needs to go to a vet. I can still remember the horrific feeling when he went under anesthesia for the first time.
All has went well with each visit.
You know the place and people over there, so all will go as planned. I'm sure she will get such a good medication after the operation so she will be just fine. Don't worry and good luck and wishing a speedy recovery for little Twiggy. She will be bouncing around in no time :)

I think it is totally normal to be super worried! She's your baby!! Aside from the fact that he really doesn't even know he's a boy, part of my reluctance to have H neutered is the fact that I'm terrified!

Awww... you're just a worried mom.... it's normal! We all freak out when our babies have to undergo anesthesia.

Just review the Frenchie anesthesia protocol for some helpful tips:

French Bulldog Rescue Network :: FBRN Anesthesia Policy

and don't worry- Twiggy will be just fine!
I already have that printed out and have gotten her to look at it, even though she already knew it all already. I just asked her to humor me lol!

You are worrying because she's your girl. You're so lucky to know the vets who will be doing the operation. :)

sending lots of hugs and prayers to you and Twiggy! :hug;

Aw we all worry! And you waited so long for her! Of course you don't want anything to happen.

We'll all be here for support! [emoji175]

I can totally understand! I think about when I have to get Dexter neutered all the time and he's months away yet! She's your baby and you love her so it's to be expected.

I hadn't seen the info on anaesthetic before, so thank you Fosta Mama for that. Great to know.

☺️

You're worried because she is so sweet and you love her so much. Ginger should have her teeth cleaned and I won't schedule it. She is 11.

I know what you mean. I had my terrier mix's teeth done last year at 14. He has a number of health issues so I was really worried.

:ROFL2::goodone: now you know what they were thinking when you told them that, It is MY baby and i can not help but worry. Makes you a good parent and breathe Twiggy will be better and healthier thanks to you.
See right where she belongs made for each other - hugs fingers and paws crossed

Good luck Twiggy! It will be over in no time and soon you will be back home on your way to recovery.

Good luck Twiggy girl!

We'll be waiting for an update :)

Everything went well. She didn't get her nares done though. The vet told me that she was up last night worrying about it. She has had 3 c sections so the vet was worried the spay would be longer and more complicated than normal and she just decided that we should wait. We may just do the nares in the Spring, or sometime before next Summer. I'm just glad everything went well. Thank you for all your well wishes. :)

Phew! So glad to hear all went well and Twiggy is safely back home  She is such a brave little girl.
Now both of you can take a deep breath and relax :whew:

She is home and resting in her crate.
