We are anxiously awaiting to hear from our vet in a couple of hours to see how Stella is recovering. Her surgery went well, but the vet said he would call later this afternoon so he could monitor her. Not sure what to expect during her recovery at home. How long can we expect her recovery to be? Stella has been through so much during her short little 7 mos. of life and just want to be prepared and make her as comfortable as possible. Thanks for any advice.IMG_1305.webp

So happy she is doing well. She may still be a little off tomorrow because of the drugs, but the next day, the hardest thing for you will be trying to keep her quiet and not jump up on anything for the next 10 days. Just watch the incision site for a couple weeks to make sure it stays clean and she does not have a reaction to the sutures. That's about it.

Ditto what davidh said. Jax was neutered, not spayed, but he bounced right back the day after. The hardest part was keeping him from running and jumping around which you are supposed to do for 10 days.

yes we had our moolah spayed in April and for the first day she was off with the meds but by the second day she was back to her crazy self and she wasnt supposed to jump but she did!!! We tried very hard to keep her more quiet but it was an endless challenge. Even so she recovered very well, I kept looking at the incision to make sure it was ok.....
Stella should recover fine!!!

Olivia was just spayed last Thursday. She was pretty quiet for the first 24 hours. She has quite a bump where the incision is, but there is no heat or discharge so I am just monitoring it for now.

Jakeyjake How is that beautiful little girl doing today?

mhuinker kim We brought Stella home last night and our vet said not to feed her anything and just keep her quiet. Normally our vet keeps spayed females over night, but Stella has hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and has had seizures in the past so he did not want her to be alone during the night. She vomited last night and then again this morning at 5:30 am. We fed her a light meal and she vomited that up too. So we are hoping she feels better soon and can keep some food down. She really can't afford to not eat, she is thin already.:(

Sending prayers and hugs for a speedy recovery. Hope she is able to eat some tonight
