For the past week I've been noticing chowders eyes frequently get teary. Today I noticed that his eyes were a little more red. I'm guessing teary eyes are pretty normal for a frenchie? Sometimes he does bite on his foot and itch his ears but it seems pretty normal. Let me know what you guys think

We feed chowder kirkland brand chicken & veggies puppy food. And also natural balance lamb treats. (The kind that's like shaped like a sausage Hahaa)

More than likely it's a food allergy making him itch and they will have teary eyes, but if they are too bad then it is also from allergies. I would first change his treats to see if that helps. We use Fruitables, you can find them at different stores or PetFlow. If after a week or so he does not improve, change his food. Chicken is a known allergy causing food for a lot of bullies and Frenchies.

Sounds like the start of allergies, which can become a huge problem.

Kirkland chicken and rice is a mediocre food, costco has grain free food- I can't think if the name right now but it's a better quality. Oh it's called natures domain. But still it isn't as good as many other foods, but a good food for the cost. I would get him on a better food and see how he does with it. Remember to switch slowly if you do decide to switch so he doesn't get a tummy ache. We personally love Fromm food and swear it keeps our babies from the vets.

Also you can add either coconut oil or salmon oil which is great for the skin.

A tbsp of plain yogurt each day will help digestion and help skin, coat and help build immune system up.

A good supplement like nuvet or hardy pet each day as well.

agreed! allergies and most likely an issue with the food (chicken and grains tend to cause issues)

i gotta try switching his food. I want to firm up his poop as well, can food allergies cause loose stool?
