Testicular Change.

Hi all,

Remy (just shy of 7 months) has something going on with his testicles. One seems to have gotten really long egg shaped and a little swollen in the last few days. Not sure if it was from playing rough with our big dogs or something more serious. Any thoughts? I have a call into our vet for an appt. We were planning on neutering him after 10mnths. Maybe we need to early? It doesn't seem to hurt him or be sore at all. Last week it was a little red...but it looked more chapped and it's been cold here. Much more prominent now.

Vet first thing Monday. Honestly it's been almost 20yrs since I've had a pup with testicles....so I kept second guessing myself if they looked off or not. Figured it was better to be safe. I'll let you all know what they say. Fingers crossed it's something minor.

I'm glad he isn't in pain. We have almost always had male pups and have never seen anything like that!

I'm glad we have an appointment. Some of the swelling has gone down and now I can see a noticeable growth. I have a feeling we will be doing an immediate castration just to be safe. Poor guy needs at least 2 teeth pulled as well when he's under (adult teeth that haven't fallen out). I'm trying hard not to think the worst. He is such a soft hearted little guy.

Poor guy. If he has to have surgery it might be good time to also have him assessed for soft palate reduction and nostril widening if he snores a lot.

Just finished with the vet. They not quite sure what it is. Either trauma or a growth since it's not solid. Instead of putting him thru tons of testing, since we were planning on neutering him anyhow, the vet felt it best to do it tomorrow to be safe. Then if there are abnormalities they can send it off. He will also be having his teeth done as well as his snares and pallet accessed. Big day for him tomorrow. This mama is nervous.

Sounds like a good plan! My bulldog just got neutered on Thursday and on Friday he was back to his usual crazy self. Sending positive thoughts your way!

I just spoke with the surgeon and all went well. He did have a small infection in the testicle, most likely from semen spillage and his body thinking it was something foreign. Surgery should be the end of it. He also had 2 teeth pulled fairly easy. She said his airways look great, so that made me feel much better. Thank you for all your thoughts and well wishes...this mama can't wait to pick him up!!
