I've been MIA for a long while, but thought I'd drop back in to give an update.
Travis, my foster failure, can turn a frown upside down in a heartbeat! I love this silly boy!
I fostered Rocco for over a year and a half. He was recently adopted by a wonderful family, but Rocco did not like their children, and he was tearfully returned just two weeks later. I decided that the best place for him would be right here. Rocco was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two years ago, and gets his blood sugar checked twice daily before his insulin shots. He is doing great (although he is currently recovering from a corneal scratch, so he's a bit squinty still)!
Newest foster Magnus. He was surrendered due to watery, bloody diarrhea for a year, that his former family just could not get to stop. Magnus has severe inflammatory bowel disease, and immediately had surgery to repair a recurring prolapsed rectum and to take biopsy and culture samples. Later, he also had a hernia repaired. He's been on several medications, and just finished up 3.5 months of a strong antibiotic. Magnus eats home-cooked ground turkey and sweet potato with 3 dietary supplements added. I am happy to report that Magnus is doing splendidly- no diarrhea, no vomiting; great appetite and energy! I am hoping he will be able to be listed for adoption soon!
