Hi everyone, my apologies for not being around for a while. Long story anyhoo, Ron has been doing really well unfortunately still unable to excercise for long as he still develops a wheeze. My question is does any one else furbaby drink excessively then projectile vomit the water up. Ron has started to do this recently and it's almost like it takes him by surprise. I am booking him into the vets as I'd like it checked out, but thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone else has had this happen

Thanks in advance

Gus hasn't done any projectile vomiting, but has definitely vomited a few times after drinking too much/fast.

Has there been any changes in your dog's diet or a new medication that might be causing him to be suddenly thirsty?

Stella tanks all the time. We have to monitor her water intake and pick up the bowl if she begins tanking. Less, more frequent drinks is better than one huge one.

My dog gets lots of water from her dehydrated raw food that I reconstitute, so I haven't seen her drink any water in a long time.

Sometimes when a dog over drinks it is due to an upset belly and the over drinking causes the vomit -- vet visit is in order. Please keep us posted

Can also be a symptom of other diseases like Cushings disease, diabetes and kidney failure.

Is Ron regurgitating or vomiting, from what I understand there is a difference? When vomiting, a dog usually brings up partially digested food and/or bile and actively expells it with muscle contractions. Regurgitation, which is very common in Frenchies, is when gulped water or food comes back up with little effort and is obviously undigested which reflects that it may never have reached the stomach and begun to digest.

Regurgitation usually happens after the dog exercises and drinks to quickly, the compromised structure (i.e. elongated soft palate) causes it to come right back up. This happens to my boy occasionally after exercising, sometimes what comes back up looks just like water or may be foamy. While neither is pleasant for the dog (or the owner) I believe that persistent vomiting is more likely to be a sign of a potentially more serious problem. Regurgitation can be avoided by limiting the amount and speed the dog drinks while he is panting or breathing heavily after exertion.

Hope this helps!

So it’s definitely regurgitating and had the bowl for around two weeks. It has slowed his gulping down which in turn has prevented the regurgitating
