My frenchie was being so destructive and ate everything it could find in the house when its alone.

It ate tons of pickled garlic a week ago. we let it to vomit until its stomach to empty. since then, it's stools has a very strong garlic.

after 2 days and by the time its getting better, it eat half of instant noodles and chocolate with wraps papers. I does not find out it ate the chocolate until I saw the wraps paper after it vomit because my family helped to cleaned the mess. it was and it is still energetic and having good appetite, but what i notice is that it has a thicker waist then before. To be precise, it grows heavier but i also worry if it ate something wrong and the stuffs remain in the stomach.

my question is if a dog ate something that it does not suppose to eat and the things cannot be digested, normally when will it vomit them all out? I heard that a dog likes to eat coins and after years the vet has to carry out surgery to take the coins out.

Dogs will not necessarily vomit something up whether they were supposed to eat it or not...

Garlic is extremely toxic to dogs and can lead to poisoning, I personally suggest taking your pup to the vet and explaining this situation... Especially since chocolate is also toxic to dogs.

I also believe that since your pup is destructive when left alone that you should crate your dog when he is left alone so that he is safe from these dangerous and toxic things.

Good luck!

Yes, it was crated now.

I know dog's reaction from food is quick as it has high metabolic rate than human, which means if the food is vital and it could be dead within few hours. since it ate the garlic and chocolate after days, i do not worry the immediate effects of it but I do worry if the stuffs that it could not digest will be remain in its stomach, like the plastic wrapping paper. Another concerns will be if the poison stuffs do not happen immediately but accumulate like metal contamination in fish.

Thanks for your comment though. Actually I planned to visit the vet this Sat, but if eventually my frenchie has to go through a surgery, that will be a pain to me as well.

Definitely crate it when you are gone before it eats something that will kill it. You got lucky with the chocolate and garlic. They don't always vomit stuff it shouldn't eat, and can get obstructions. If you do need to make one vomit from eating something they shouldn't, give them a tablespoon or two of hydrogen peroxide and wait about 10 minutes and they will vomit.

I agree, you got very lucky with the garlic and chocolate! Good idea to keep your pup crated since he can't be trusted to wander the house on his own. I personally would go to the vet anyway but I'm a bit of a worrier when it comes to my dogs.

Is he acting any different? I would take him into the vet to get checked out for sure. And an X pen might be a good idea to invest in if you have stuff lying around that he can get into!

Good advice above. You need to dog proof your home in addition to crating when you are gone!

Whenever a dog ingests something it should not, the sooner you get to a vet the better. A dog will not always vomit on their own. Once the item goes from the stomach and passes in to the intestnes there's a chance it can form a blockage. It's a lot easier to get them to vomit the item immediately before it has a chance to get in to the intestines, which can require surgery. I agree that you should either crate him when he's alone or put him in a exercise pen with some safe chew toys.
