So, I browsed through some other recent allergy threads posted, but it appears that everyone has different issues than what I'm inquiring about.

Because Q-Roux gets up to a cup of fresh fruits and/or vegetables per day, I'm still learning what she reacts to allergically. For example, her little body does not do well when fed strawberries or zucchini.

I've tried giving her Benadryl for the stomach and chest itching or reduction of the welts on her back and sides, however she didn't respond to it, nor did she get tired (like it does to most humans).

I know that I need to visit the vet next time she has an outbreak, but I was curious if anyone else's FB has experienced this. The welts Q gets turn into scabby sores and as I rub and pull her hair away from the bump to see what it looks like, the whole bump and hair fall out and in to my hand. It's very similar to what my Weimaraner Gracen-Roo had, which was Puppy Pyroderma, however with Q, it only happens when triggered by food.

Per the below, you can see some large welts on her side.

That looks like hives to me. Doesn't pyroderma usually occur in more of the hairless parts of the dog? So do the bumps and scabs all go away within a day?
Jake used to get hives. We had him allergy tested, and he is allergic to dust mites, weeds, grasses, etc. We have been giving him allergy shots since last December. Although he has not gotten the hives again, he does still chew/lick his paws and scratch, but no as bad. We give him Zyrtec in the am and Benadryl at night. I also bathe him at least once per week. I think I told you about the Dermabens and the chlorhexidine in another thread.

My vet recommends a Benadryl a day and a fish oil tablet daily for allergies

That could be a staph infection too... Next vet visit ask them to check for it... String round of antibiotic will address it, if that is what she had

So, I recently switched Quella from Orijen Puppy to Fromm Chicken Classics at the recommendation of one of the Fromm representatives. He suggested bringing her 'back to basics' and leaving out fruits, veggies, plants. Quella's welts have went down some, but she continues to scratch her stomach, and side of face, near her ears. She also has started licking her paws. I don't see anything other than pink irritated skin. I asked the Fromm rep what the next steps are food wise and he recommends allergy testing. Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I should go to a grain free or chicken free food in the meantime until I get Quella to the vet?

Also, I know quite a few have had allergy testing done, so if you don't mind sharing the cost. Once the testing was done, were you given medication in pill form or injections and how much is the treatment? What was your pup allergic to?

Some frenchies have sensitivities to chicken. I would get her off that and anything with potato and grain first, and see what happens.

I would also try the four star grain free instead of the Classic Fromm. There is a huge difference between the two and so many bulldog breeds do really well with the four star grain free.

We did allergy testing on one of our bulldogs about 15 years ago. We also did injections to immunize her against them but they didn't seem to help. What did help her was getting her on a good food with none of the ingredients she was allergic to. They did prescribe her hills rabbit food since she wasn't allergic to any if the ingredients but it didn't help. Finding a great grain free food though, without those ingredients, changed her life!

So my poor lil girl looks like she has mange, was tested for it and was negative. Phew! She is scratching so badly that she has open sores, scabs and welts. Luckily her tshirts cover a good portion of her body, which unfortunately leaves her ears, shoulders and neck exposed for some serious scratching. She has been on 4 different foods as well as 3 shampoos with no results. I saw the vet a few weeks ago and there were only welts, so he recommended Zyrtec because he is nervous to treat her without knowing exactly what her liver issues are. After her doing some serious harm, the vet accepted her as a walk in lastnight upon seeing the wounds. He prescribed Cephalexin to help prevent infection on the sores and Temaril-P for the itching. He gave her an injection yesterday, which didn't seem to help and today she starts her rx. She will have blood allergy testing done, but her spay and liver biopsy are priority first.

Good luck; I hope you find something that works and gives you both some relief. The hardest part is not knowing how to help them.

I went through something similar with Jax last week. I had given him the Fromm lamb and after a few days, I came home and he had scratched himself to the point of bleeding and had sores. I immediately took him off the lamb and gave him Natures Variety LID turkey. I had some leftover Temaril P and gave that to him for a few days to stop the itching. I also diluted some povidone iodine in water and rubbed it on his sores with a cotton ball. He is MUCH better now, off the Temaril P and not scratching himself raw. He still has the sores but they are getting better.

The key is to find out what she is allergic too, could it be environmental allergies?

I know how frustrating allergies can be. I hope the allergy testing provides you with some answers so you can get her some relief. Good luck!

Wow. Quella has done a 180 and it was within 1-2 days. She hasn't scratched any part of her body, she hasn't chewed on her paws, the sores have healed and the scabs have fallen off and best of all her hair hasn't gotten oily or yucky smelling, so no need for an every 3-5 day bathe. I am concerned that we don't know the cause of the reactions, but luckily she isn't suffering. I'm also super excited to get her back on Fromm, so she has some nutrional content as opposed to me juggling foods until I find out the real allergens.

And here is the trouble maker. As you can see... causing trouble. Sassy lil varmint.

Quella has been in shirts 24/7 for the past year due to allergies. Finally, enough was enough. I bought some of the waterproof boots and put holes in them with a hole punch so they would breathe and they have worked wonders, preventing her from scratching her neck and chest. I have now put some Purddy Paws toe nail caps on her rear feet and am anxious to see if they'll prevent injury when she scratches. She looks so adorabull.

Poor little guy. The nail covers are clever! Let's hope they work and she doesn't mind using them or try to remove them by herself.
Now she can run around naked :p

My dogs would eat the balloon boots and the nail covers right off lol.

Ha. She isn't even phased with dress up, which has been a blessing because it's helped keep the scratching at a minimum.
