I haven't ever really thought about a lot of dog friendly places until recently. I'm not even getting my Frenchie until later in the year but I've started thinking about where all she can go with me. (I know..I'm getting ahead of myself but I want her SO bad I can't stop thinking about her). So, for our Winter vacation, I rented a pet friendly cabin so she can tag along. While searching for pet friendly cabins or hotels other things started popping up that got my mind wandering. So, I found several pet friendly restaurants with places on outside decks where you can bring the dogs, and one has an enclosed climate controlled porch that is dog friendly. She can go out to eat with us! So, as I was looking I read that some Michael's craft stores, Lowes, Home Depot..all allow dogs. I know Lowes and HD allow them here because I see them all the time. I will call Michaels beforehand but I'm excited about all the places I can take her not only on vacation, but here at home. I was wondering where all everyone takes their dogs?

I talk Cheli to Home Depot, Lowes, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, AC Moore and Michel's all the time... just bring a towel with me, lay it in the cart and place him in there... he gets lots of attention

I didn't realize all those places allowed doggies.... I take my two to Home Depot and Lowes, and of course, being Asheville, a lot of restaurants around here are dog friendly on the patios/decks/outdoor dining areas. :)

I take my dogs on errands all the time but I leave them in the car. *disclaimer: The weather has to be perfect for me to do this, no hot or cold days*
I'm a fast shopper as I hate doing it so I like to get in and out quickly. That would be impossible taking Thing 1 & Thing 2 with me. :D

I take my dogs to places that aren't pet friendly... Oops [emoji6]

Burlington (called before hand and they allowed it), Walmart LOL usually everyone just says how cute...

UH the dollar store, lol

Seriously I take mine anywhere.

There are a lot of pet friendly businesses in Wallowa County. There are only 7,000 people in the whole county, but 700,000 people visit annually. There are a lot of outside things for people and dogs to do!

I know about some of those, but not all of them. I have taken mine to Home Depot and Tractor Supply, but that's about it, other than the pet food stores of course.

We take ours to a sporting goods store regularly and pretty much take them to lunch with us 4 - 5 x per week. California is easy on the weather so its super easy. We go to pick up dog food, etc. with them, but aside from that not much else. We are both home so they have lots of time with the pawrents. We go to breakfast on the weekends with them at an outdoor cafe and they say hi to other dogs. We try to take them with us as much as posibble.

We are so very lucky that we live in Austin, it's a wonderful city that is very dog friendly. Tons of restaurants actually cater to our furry friends as they dine with us, giving them water and lots of attention!

I've taken Hotchkiss to the normal pet friendly stores, petsmart and petco. Recently I took him to lowes but I would love to find more stores that are pet friendly so I can socialize him more. How do you find out what stores are pet friendly? Call ahead and ask?

I had no idea you could take your dogs to all of these places! I saw an Italian greyhound in K-Mart one time, so I bet they allow it. T-girl, I cant wait for you to get your baby.

I can't wait either!

I take Q to Walgreens a few times a week. We go to REI, Macy's, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Lowes, Home Depot, Bass Pro Shop. I always call the day I'll be visiting and get the name of the person I spoke to, as we all know that what someone says is acceptable today, may not be acceptable to another person tomorrow. If they're hesitant about me bringing her in, I offer up to keep her in the her stroller and they happily say yes. A few of the places often say that 'comfort' dogs are allowed and that the dog does not have to be a service dog with a vest, but specifically needs to be called a 'comfort' dog if asked when entering. I think this is a hint hint from them when I call as how to get away with it. A lot of the restaurants are dog friendly in the state, some more than others, but again, I always call first. I honestly get a 50/50 reaction from people that see us coming. They either come scurrying over to say hello or they give me the look of death and appear to be completely disgusted that I have a dog in a store. I usually just turn around and go the other way, because the last thing I need is a complaint from one grumpster that will ruin it for all future visits.

I've also found that a lot of festivals, art shows, etc in the state say that they're NOT dog friendly, similar to stores, but once I get there, low and behold, several people have their dogs with them. I'm not a rule breaker, so I could never just show up, but for some, it doesn't hurt to try. If you're not too far from home and won't be inconvenienced being turned down with a dog and can run them home quickly before heading back out, I'd say go for it.

What's the date - August?

August or September. I'm hoping for August. By the time I get her it will be close to a year from the time I found out I was getting her. It's been a long wait, but she is worth it. She is going to be so spoiled rotten! My whole family is so excited for her to join us.

Q and I went to the mall today... just snuck right in. We only went in a few stores, one of which I wanted to try on a few outfits, so I asked if they would allow her in with me and they said no problem and put us in the handicap room for more space. The next place welcomed us with open arms at the door and the final place was Macy's and again, no problems. We even stopped and shared some Wetzel Pretzel bites.

I've actually seen a girl carrying her kitten with her in a cat bookbag. She was balancing it funny, and I followed her for a bit cause I was heading the same direction and I had a feeling she had an animal. Sure enough a little kitten head appeared in the mesh.

I sneak titan in everywhere with me. Walmart, giant eagle... Usually I get a AW OH MY GOSH HES SO CUTE WHAT KIND OF DOG IS THAT reaction. I've never been asked to leave a store.

Working on him to be a therapy dog so he can go everywhere with me at all times if I so wish... Just need to find the right trainer who has deaf dog experience.

So fun to take frenchies with you! I would've never had that much fun taking our Aussie when I was young...

Pardon the 50# weight gain in 14 months. This is of Q and I at Home Depot yesterday to buy supplies to make cat shelves for Che Che my Bengal. Everyone went insane. We spent more time socializing than shopping. What's unfortunate is I can't bathe her yet with her stiches and cleaning her with baby wipes just doesn't do the trick. It's quite embarassing. We also went to Dilliards to return some shoes, but we defintely weren't the Belle of the ball. I let her walk on her leash or I carried her and people gave me dirty looks or scurried the other way. I was actually in shock. I passed by 2 managers and they didn't say anything though.

We go regularly to Lowes while I am plant shopping. Northwest Hardware is pet friendly here as well as Woodcraft. I saw a lady going into Walmart with her little dog one day, but I wouldn't try that.
