Hair Loss

I also think that could be a possibility. I've switched her to a single protein food that she had to no reaction to as a pup and have taken away all treats that are not this protein.

I am thinking with Bella, less is more. Until this goes away we are sticking to a very limited diet.

That's a good plan. Good luck! Keep us posted!

Figured I would give everyone an update on Bella, for anyone with past issues, or new current/occurring ones.

The news is great!! Bella's hair is growing back, and she is shedding way less and it is blowing my mind. Her coat is shiny again, whiter and softer than ever :D

Fortunately, due to a great reference from MaplesMommy I spoke to someone who provided me with some concrete information, and I am so thankful.

16 Days ago Bella was switched to Raw complete diet. We strongly believe that the processed diet of kibble was the root to her problems. And I am now a firm believer in the Raw diet. To detox in the possibility that she was dealing with Vacinosis we introduced Milk thistle, and Chlorella to her diet and we will continue for 6 weeks. We also added a probiotic kefir, and omgea3. To the patchy areas we put a mixture of coconut oil and Calendula oil everyday and massaged it in. We were also washing with an anti-bacteria soap twice a week.

At this point 16 days in, Bella has regrown the majority of her hair, with some other spots still improving. The yeasty area's around her vulva, and in her ears have significantly improved. Her energy level is higher and she has gone from 23.5 lbs to 22 which I am feeling is a great weight for her.

So much of what our pups are feeling is related to their diet, and its crazy to think that my Vets next step was to put her on an antibiotic. :(

That's great news! So glad she is looking beautiful again. You must be so relieved.

So glad you didn't go the antibiotic route! Good news about raw. If my pups had allergy issues I would switch immediately.

I'm glad you figured out the best option for your dog! Not everyone will research and find out what they should try/do! You did the best thing!

I agree that I would totally re-think kibble if my dogs ever started getting major issues!

Good job!

Diane
Sore spots and loss of hair...we have been trying everything over these past months for our boy Barley...including switching food and vets and even a dermatologist. With all the change and medication he is getting much worse...see pics:

He is not scratching or licking and seems to be his normal playful self...or just bullish and pushing through...but we can't seem to slow this down.

Recommendations...please!!!

Note...the square patch is where he was checked for allergies.
