In fact, I don't even get to PICK my puppy (from a group of 4 fawn females out of a TN show dog breeder - pic below!) until after next weekend I think - when they are about 6 weeks of age. The breeder has first pick, the stud breeder has second, and I have third. So I watch them grow by try not to pick a favorite until I know which will be available! Then I wait until 10 weeks to get my puppy. The waiting game is hard, but I also know that my whole life will change on June 6th, so I am enjoying the time to prepare, and thinking about how to manage the responsibility!
I *think* she will be named Eloise, with Lulu as a nickname, since I know calling "Eloise" is not going to fly. We'll see. My first english bulldog boy was Maximus, and even tho it was always shortened to Max or Maxy, I still liked his full name. I've been looking at french girls names for weeks!
I'm really happy to have found such an active community - I know I'll have alot of questions, despite my experience with raising two english bulldogs (divorce, don't ask...ugh...), and I love connecting with experienced and new owners alike!
I recently moved BACK to Mpls, MN from San Francisco Bay Area - quit my FT traveling job and took an even BETTER one, with almost no travel. I live in a newly refurbed old building in the middle of downtown - so the good and the bad of the city. And of apt living. But we'll make it work, and it won't be forever. I think of it like a phase - immerse myself back in the city, with friends, the job, the gym, etc, and then move back to the suburbs and get a house and yard and such in a year or two.
I lost my dogs, and my cat died suddenly soon after I separated, so I am REALLY ready for a pet, a companion, something to love and take care of again - now that I am in a position to do so! Aaaaand I am scoping out adorable dog sweaters on Etsy - this dog will need some gear to make it through a MN winter!!
Looking forward to meeting you all!

ps the one on the right, although she looks submissive there, is a spitfire. DESPITE that (?), I am hoping she is available. Darg, I just jinxed myself!!! In a previous week, the breeder said the middle two were looking good to she and the other breeder. We'll see... :/
