Hi everyone, Lily is 4 months old as of 2 days ago and is growing like a weed. She is about 14 lbs now, but suddenly tonight she developed some very concerning issues.
She was playing all day without any trouble. Came in and ate dinner, then fell asleep on the couch with us as we watched TV. I went into the kitchen, when she came into the room... limping! I thought maybe she'd jumped off the couch wrong and hurt her leg, but we soon realized it was her back leg that was troubling her.
She seems to have lameness in one of her rear hind legs. She's holding it above the ground, wobbling, and bunny-hopping when she walks. When she stands her two hind feet touch together. She kept sitting down and folding the lame leg under her. She acts as if there's no sensation below the knee. She doesn't seem to be in any pain at all, and is trying to play like normal. We've checked between her toes and pads, and massaged her knee and leg (she fell asleep she was so relaxed). Our vet is closed tomorrow and the open hospital only is the emergency hospital. She seems completely normal - just has this lameness. She was able to poop and pee fine.
It seems like she has all the symptoms of hip dysplasia. We also watched videos and her gait and the way she sits and lays down is the same - we just didn't know it was abnormal.
Anyone have experience with this? Right now we're going to watch how she feels tomorrow and will decide what to do...
Edit: She woke up this morning and is so much better. She has a tiny bit of a limp but is otherwise normal. We'll be making a vet appointment for her on Monday. This really makes me think hip dysplasia. She spent most of the day playing and might have overdone it.
