I'm a big animal lover, so it's no wonder I was distraught yesterday when I went out to see what Jake and Stella were up to. Much to my surprise, there was a dead bird on the ground. I was hoping it was sick and died and that they were just looking at it, but then I discovered feathers all over the ground and all over JAKE'S MOUTH! Egads! Are your frenchies hunters too?

HECK yeah!!! Cheli has a very high prey drive... Birds, squirrels, bunnies, toads.. It moves and on the yard he is after it! So far only thing he has caught are toads

I have heard that many have a high prey drive.

Buster mainly catches grasshoppers in the summer. He eats them!

I just got an 8 week old pup and the first second he saw my parrots on their cages he tried to chase them. Then the macaw let out a loud screech and took flight, scared the pup just enough that now he keeps his distance and pretty much ignores them. Of course, I'll not let my guard down , but glad he appears to be a quick learner.

Wow toads, eeewwwww. I think I'd rather clean up a bird!!! I had a bull terrier that would catch a mouse every now and then in the back yard. He would shake it just like a toy, and throw it. Hard not to react sometimes, but I guess they are doing what comes naturally.

That's kinda cute...and good for your garden! They can be pesky.

Wally has a very high prey drive, but luckily he's not mentally quick so he has yet to catch anything. Last year a young robin fell out of a tree and Wally was pawing at it and chasing it but he didn't kill it, thankfully! I heard the other robins yelling at him from the trees, which alerted me to go outside to investigate. I called the dogs in and waited for the bird to fly away.

Wow. I have heard Frenchies can have a high prey drive. Jax will try to chase squirrels and cats. Oh, and leaves blowing in the wind. I have no idea what he would do if he ever actually caught one.

Yes, many a toad have been pulled from his mouth! it is kind of funny cause the toad 'pee' makes him really drool/foam... and it is like Cheli is doing the 'ack' ack' with his tongue (picture Tom Hanks in big after the caviar)

Ha, Ha; that is so gnarly! :w00t: I had our little dwarf hamster out the other night and it was the first time Bambi had seen her. Bambi was transfixed and licking her chops.

Hazel is the lizard hunter, she goes crazy when she sees one and tries to get at it. She has caught several from time to time and eats them. If I see her and can get to her in time I will take it away from her.

So far... all we have done is chase. No birds, squirrels or rabbits have been harmed. Not sure what they would do if they actually caught something.

Bisou is sure cute, but she isn't the brightest bulb. Shasta is our hunter in the family, though she's never really caught anything. She was on a walk when she noticed one of our neighbors had a rabbit in their front yard tied up on a lead (really, who does that?) and ran up to it and pinned it. I'm not sure if she didn't hurt it because she didn't want to or didn't have a chance to, but those people haven't ever left their bunny out since... But Shasta will chase lizards and bunnies when we go out to the desert and Bisou ends up just chasing after Shasta, biting her heels because she doesn't understand this game they're playing. Who knows, maybe she has a prey drive but just can't quite figure out how to get to the creatures she wants! :p

I don't think Hudson knows what kind of animal he is... He tries to play with birds, bugs, everything, you name it. We have a big open field where we walk sometimes and there are jack rabbits. We call them wild frenchies (because of their ears) and he goes nuts crying and making a scene because he wants to be friends with them and they won't let him get close. If he sees a beetle or small bug on the ground he lays next to it and rolls around trying to befriend it...

We live near the woods & get nasty black ants on the regular. Isabelle chases & attempts to eat them only for them to clamp down with their pincers to her jowls. *gag* I hate ants [emoji724][emoji220]

If given the opportunity, I think Maximus would be quite the hunter. He likes to chase down every disgusting NYC pigeon and piece of garbage that is flying around (he thinks they are alive). Thankfully, he hasn't notice the mice or rats that sometimes runs around on the sidewalk. I am so grossed out as I'm typing this out.

Also I'm not sure if he is scared of the horses at Central Park or wants to befriend them. He goes absolutely hysterical and pulls me towards them while shrieking like a pig being slaughtered. Some people took videos of little Maximus acting up at the park. My bf and I were so embarrassed. As soon as the weather decides to get better, we are having Maximus's trainer work with him on the horse anxiety issue.

Bluh, bluh! :bad:
