Hi all,

My little buddy went to daycare recently and came home with kennel cough. He started out with significant hacking, reverse sneezing to the point he'd puke. He also developed coloured nasal discharge... poor guy. Of course, we went to the vet and he was prescribed Prednisone and an antibiotic for 10 days. We are a week in, and while his symptoms have gotten a tad better, he is still having coughing fits, with a large hack at the end. He is lethargic/sad. but is still eating. He also did not have a temperature at our re-check.

In the past, my experience with KC is that it typical resides within a couple days and the pup bounces back immediately. But poor Banks is getting his butt kicked.. at this point would you get X-rays to just rule out pneumonia..?

Thanks guys :(

How long has it been? I think pneumonia can happen pretty quickly so might be worth getting an x-ray if it doesn't subside soon.

i would get X-rays for sure... also mention the lethargy

Good news! X-rays were completely normal, vet thinks it is just a nasty bout of kennel cough. So I will continue to give him his meds, and a cough suppressant for a few more days.

Thanks!!
