Hello, I am hoping someone on here can help me out with some positive feed back or a similar situation. My beautiful Frenchie has injured himself when he was attempting to jump up onto the step to come in the house he slipped off and got back up like normal and was fine until 12 hours later he lost all control of his bladder and bowels he still has use of his legs. We have been dealing with this for 3 weeks took him to emergency care where it was suggested that he have a $8000.00 surgery but most likely it will not fix the issue of incontinence. We are trying steroids hoping it is just inflammation causing the problem however day 6 and it's not looking good both family vet and neurologist feel it probably will not work and we need to re group next week. It is so heart breaking watching my loving dog (3 years) go through this and I can tell his spirit is broken. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. I have no experience in this area, but just wanted to send some good healing vibes your way. Hope he feels better soon.

I am so sorry your little man is going through this. I have no experience with nerve damage, but certainly hope he is able to recover.

Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts. So far the steroids are not working and the vet will not re new the prescription so I am not sure what is going to be the next step

thoughts and prayers are with you could not imagine the hurt this brings - hope all turns out okay

Oh gosh, I would get a referral to a specialist at this point. You definitely need a 2nd, and maybe even a 3rd opinion on what to do and where to go from here.

In the meanwhile I'd get a pair of doggy underwear for him. For your sanity, and he might not be as "freaked out" about what's happening.

I feel so bad for your boy! I can't imagine!

How devastating for your family to go through this with your dog. This may seem totally off the wall but what about chiropractic for him? There are animal chiros out there and to get their prospective might help (?) Less expensive I would think and they specialize in nerves from our spinal cord and brain. Our nerves along spinal cord affect certain areas like bladder, etc. Just an idea and I'm not an expert in this area either. I pray you get answers soon!!

Sorry to hear about that :( I no experience with this but please do keep us all posted

So sorry for your pup. Give it some time, as it takes a long time for nerves to heal. Hoping it's just like a pinched nerve or inflamed nerve. I had nerve damage in my leg once foe being squeezed in machinery and it took a year before the feeling came back. So please give it some time, and hopefully it will get better with time.

Thank you and actually this is the approach I am taking and already it is helping with his stance but not with the i continence. Monday morning were are going to give acupuncture a try too!! Fingers crossed
