Hi everyone,

My husband and I just adopted a frenchie, "Bambi." We took her home on 12/27/14. Bambi is a three-year old retired breeder. She had her last litter of puppies several months ago and is spayed now. She is the sweetest girl and such a love. All she wants is to be held and petted. We were afraid and wondering how she would do with our ten-year old mixed breed, Ginger, but they have been great. Bambi loves to go in Ginger's crate; it is so cute.

It seems that Bambi might have a hot spot on her foot. I know this can be diet related. The breeder had her on Victor Grain Free. We feed Ginger Blue Buffalo Wilderness. The breeder said to change out foods when we get to the last 1/8th of the current bag (mix in with the new). Any advice on food allergies? Thank you!

Hi Mavis and Bambi. Thank you for adopting!!! My husband and I hope to do that in the future as well. Yes, food allergies seem to be prevalent w/ Frenchies. There is a lot of info on the site regarding allergies. I wasn't sure if you had already switched to the Blue or were in the process? We feed Blue to ours and I also cook for them.

Looking forward to hearing more about Bambi and seeing some pics!

Thanks winginit66! Your kids are darling!

Thank you! I just answered your other thread on feeding too. I'm sure others will chime in too.

Welcome Mavis:

I also replied to your other thread. :)

It could be nerves too, of a new place, if she has been on the Victor for awhile. Victor is a decent food. A friend of ours feeds their bullies Victor and they are doing well. We tried it for our bullies and one didn't do very well on it. Blue is a decent food, we feed ours FROMM 4 star grain free food and they do great on it. Let her settle in a little and see how it goes.

Thanks everyone; good advice. I have to relax a little and remember that we haven't had her for a full week yet - picked her up on Saturday, 12/27. I'm sure she is transitioning. In spite of having a new home, she definitely has the "joie de vivre"! She is one happy little girl.

Hello and :welcome3: to FBN.... agree with letting her settle

Welcome to you and your Bambi. So awesome you adopted. Great advice to let her settle a little and see what happens.

:smileywelcome: I agree with letting Bambi adjust to her new digs before making any changes!
