Hi everyone,
My Frenchie has had this terrible skin issue for months now. In the beginning, I thought it was just a skin infection so when I took him to the vet, they gave him antibiotics. After 2 different types of antibiotics were given with no relief, I was referred to a Dermatologist. She recommended a skin biopsy to confirm this autoimmune disease Pemphigus, which will require general anesthesia (which scares me because of Frenchie's respiratory issues as is). After doing research on Pemphigus, I am certain that my boy has this but I do not know where to go from here. The treatment for this disease seems aggressive and may harm other organs, so I was hoping someone can help me with other options. Any experiences and knowledge shared regarding Pemphigus will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have no experience but reading about it… seems life long prednisone is the one treatment.

I would focus on trying to strengthen immune system… raw fresh foods, probiotics (refrigerated sauerkraut or raw goats milk) . Check out “the organic dog shop”. They are very helpful in recommending foods and supplements for immune support

Thank you, I will definitely try to help strengthen his immune system 🙏

Sending healing prayers to your baby! I am so sorry that your baby is going through this. Have you tried giving him a cytopoint injection? and looking switching up his diet?

Thank you for your prayers. Unfortunately I have tried both. I’ve also tried using natural remedy like coconut oil and then taking him to a specialist, which they just offered topical treatment until they can confirm what it is. To confirm the diagnosis, he will have to be sedated with general anesthesia so they can get a biopsy 😫

I hope everything goes well with the biopsy and you soon find a diagnosis Xx

I had no idea that sauerkraut was a probiotic! Can I give my pup the regular one from the store or do I need to find a recipe?

Hi everyone, I'm having the same problems with my 3yr old boy. He had his surgery a week ago and we're waiting for results. He's currently on steroids and anti-biotics, he's actually been on steroids for months which worries me. He's not responding to Cytopoint injections, 4 of them at this stage and I'm also worried sick about him. You have my sincerest sympathy, it's an awful situation. For what it's worth, he came through the anaesthetic just fine and apart from the dirty looks he gave me (if they could kill.....I wouldn't be here now), he did survive the ordeal. I will try the sauerkraut again, it's not that easy to get here unless pickled in the jar but I could give it a gently rinse first I suppose. I've come to love him so much that I really feel for what you're going through. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and I'll try to come back with some progress reports. Thinking of you all.
