About two weeks ago, Cheli eye all of a sudden looked like this:

Looks like an eye infection, swollen and green discharge, well it turned out to be a scratched cornea. Almost the length of eyeball, top lid to almost the bottom. All I can think of is he ran into some of the tall grass that is coming through our fence in the back yard. He does laps, very fast, around the yard , but he also has to :poo: right up against the fence and then turn and run for dear life each time.. So that has to be what did it.

He was on drops, ointment and anti-inflamitory for two weeks, back for check up tonight! I checked it all myself this morning and it looks great --- it did not slow him down at all, but it did look really painful to me.

Aw, that's no good! But I'm glad that it's getting better!

I always worry Jax is going to scratch his cornea because he will literally run into the bushes in our backyard when he has the zoomies or if he does not want to go inside yet. Glad Cheli is feeling better.

so happy to hear it is healing, scary you never know when a scratch can be to deep and cause permanent damage one of my constant worries

Our first Bulldog, Sherman, used to run through thorny bushes to bark at the garbage man and he did scratch his cornea. He had the same treatment as Cheli and was fine. We had to take out the bushes because he kept running through them and we didn't want another scratched cornea!

it scared the crap out of me... it is one of my worries too, as there is so little you can do at home for eye injuries.

yes, I am now obsessed with the grass that grows through the fence :hissy:
