Hi Everyone-

I cam home from work a couple weeks ago to find Otis had vomited and had diarrhea in his crate. He seemed a little off and was completely uninterested in his food (rare for him) and just lethargic. I brought him to the vet and they put him on Pepcid and Flagyl and it seemed to do the trick. Then flash forward 2 weeks and he throws up a small sock (I didn't even know he ate it) and then it the diarrhea starts again and then yesterday he vomited. He keeps doing this thing where he stretches his mouth, kind of looks like a yawn but isn't and has been licking his paws and lips more than usual. He has moments where he his playful and seems back to normal but then is lethargic. We went back to the vet and they did x-ray and didn't see anything so they put him back on the Flagyl and Pepcid but I just feel like it's something more. Has anyone else dealt with anything like this? Any ideas? I'm desperate? Thanks!

Go back to vet and ask for a barium test x-ray, he may still have something in his belly

Ok thanks, they told us an ultrasound is the next step so we'll see....

Agree with Christine.

I have read that the licking of the lips could be acid reflux or issues with the esophagus. Jax used to do it a lot but he seems to be fine with Pepcid here and there.

I am happy to report Otis is on the mend and doing much better! The ultrasound didn't reveal anything but the Flagyl and Pepcid seem to have done the trick. Fingers crossed it was just an upset stomach and it doesn't come back. And I think the Pepcid has helped with the licking/yawning as that has gone way down too.
