Carrot normally sleeps in her crate overnight, but in the morning, we normally bring Carrot into bed for about an hour to snuggle with us. She immediately goes right under the covers and burrows down by our feet. She eventually stretches out (sideways of course) and just hangs out there for an hour or so. Eventually she will come up for air but I'm constantly worried she will suffocate! For a dog breed with breathing issues, I'm amazed she enjoys being under there! Anyone else's frenchie do that?

Jake loves to burrow under the covers and goes all the way down by our feet. Stella can't even stand having a blanket slightly over her...freaks her out.

Sofi starts out on a dog bed/cushion in our bedroom, then goes out to the couch in the family room.
We always lay out a blanket for her on this couch before we go to bed. (make her bed).
A couple of times during the week she'll come to my wife's side of the bed between 5 - 6am and wants to
be brought up. She coughs softly at first (not a bark) to wake my wife. The longer the delay in being brought up, the louder the cough!!
She'll then lay between us sometimes resting her head on my neck and snoring (like a freight train) in my ear.
At this point I am finished sleeping. :)
Sometimes she crawls under the covers and stays there.
Like you, we get concerned for her breathing, but she has been doing this for years!!
Charlie is six months old and has recently started sleeping on the couch sometimes.
Sammie sleeps on a doggie bed/cushion on my wife's side of our bed.

Good thread!!

Jax sometimes buries his face into a pillow or my body so I always get worried he's going to suffocate. He doesn't crawl under the blankets but sometimes he likes to have his body covered. Sometimes he likes to be wrapped like a burrito with just his head sticking out.

I'm amazed that your dogs will sleep on a bed or on the couch. If I didn't close the door to her crate I think she would just sit next to the bed waiting to come up. I wonder at what age she might switch to a "big girl" bed! :)

Buster like to burrow his nose/face not his whole body. It doesn't seem to effect his breathing!

When we got our first frenchie Simon, my wife couldn't resist and brought him up in bed "for just a few minutes" one night.
That became Simon sleeping with us every night. He used to come to my side of the bed at bedtime and turn facing away from me so that I could pick him up. He slept at the foot of our bed for 11 wonderful years. My little boy. I loved him so much.
We learned that if you do something once with these little guys, it becomes etched in stone. The key is to not bring them up in bed...ever.
You must resist (and I know it's hard) when they are puppies or prepare to have them in bed with you every night. Sofi comes up sporadically and she's a bed hog. It was all my wife could do to not bring Charlie up when he was a puppy.
We crate train initially until they got potty trained, then leave the crate open and we have doggie beds in our bedroom.
We also put down pee pads. Eventually, they stop using the crate move to cushions or couch. Then the crate is put away.
We also have other dogs that a puppy can emulate. That helps.

Cheli love to be under the covers but not his face... he sleeps on a pillow between us and Lambeau is at our feet under the ceiling fan

My two dogs start off sleeping on 2 separate dog beds in my bedroom, and then at some point during the night they end up in same bed.

Uma is a burrito dog and will wrap herself up tight. I always try and find her face and will open the blankets a bit just so she can breathe.

I thought Jax was the only one who liked being wrapped like a burrito. He loves it!
