Hi everybody ! Glad to meet you all! My husband and I just brought our Charlie home yesterday. When we went to pick him up? The breeder said his litter had smaller puppies. She said Charlie has been checked by the vet, has all his shots, and is overall healthy. I am going to take him to my personal vet tomorrow to be checked.

I was just wondering if anyone has brought home a smaller than average frenchie puppy ? I've been look ing at Charlie and he does seem pretty darn tiny...a little skinny, and his face is really tiny too. my husband and I are hoping he'll grow. He is all ears right now. He eats like a beast, runs around nonstop, and poops and pees like no other. His brother, Chunks, was bigger at 15 weeks and he is a whopping 25 to 28 lbs now. Was just wondering what you all think? I'm feeding him blue buffalo about 3 to 4 times a day....has anyone had a small frenchie puppy who grew into a good and healthy size ? Just want Charlie to be healthy and happy, like his older brother ! I've attached pics for reference!

:smileywelcome: to you, Chunks and Charlie! Your boys are adorable!!! See what your vet thinks, but I'm betting Charlie will grow up just fine! Some dogs just seem to grow slower and are late bloomers, but they bloom!

Welcome! Gorgeous Frenchies! He does look small but he also looks healthy. It is a good idea to get him checked out but all Frenchies grow at different rates.

Agreed with the others! He is a total cutie pie and I absolutely love those ears! He looks healthy to me! Let us know what the vet says ☺

Cuuuuute! As above, I'm sure he's absolutely fine and just a little baby. Dexter is still a smaller Frenchie, but I don't mind that at all! I met a pup on Friday that was 6 months old and way bigger than him! There is such a variety in sizes.

There's a Growing Rates thread on here somewhere that has a lot of info on the size of our Frenchies as they grow - it's an interesting read if you have time :-)

Congrats! he is adorable..... they are all different so see what your vet says today and let us know, but I am sure he is fine and will grow to be a nice size Frenchie!

Thank you everyone for the comments! I am taking him to the vet today, so hopefully everything is okay! I will definitely post on here again and let you guys know! WeeDex, do you know the link to the thread? I'd love to read it! I will search for it in the meantime! The boys just had their breakfast and Charlie took a massive poopie that was about half his size lol. Such a tiny fella, I hope the vet visit turns out well!

What a cutie Charlie is. Hope the vet check goes well.

Just got back from the vet ! She says he is very petite. He weighs 5.4 lbs!! But she's not too concerned right now. She says we'll see how he does in the upcoming months. Otherwise, she says he is perfectly healthy...However he does have giardia (his brother chunks also had a bout of giardia). I just gave him a dose of his oral meds and he hated it lol. The vet says maybe in clearing up the giardia he may gain a bit more weight and grow more. So fingers crossed!! Did any of your bulldogs have giardia?

Glad he had a good check up. I remember Stella weighed 4.5 lbs. at 11 weeks and at 2 yrs. old now she weighs 20 lbs.
And both of mine had giardia.

Congrats.... He's a cutie!!! Reese was small when we brought her home (4 pounds at 13 weeks)!! Over the past 1-2 months she has started growing like a weed.

Our first was tiny. 3 pounds at 12 weeks. His brother (by blood and because we own him haha) is a whopping 9 pounds at 10 weeks. Our tiny one is now 28 pounds at age 2.5.

Hi guys! Wow thanks for all the messages. It really eases my concerns for little Charlie here. He is so very rambunctious and has such a big personality. Just want him to be a big healthy boy...Hopefully the giardia clears up. He hates his meds. Anyone know of a good way to give it to him? It's a liquid suspension and it just tastes terrible apparently. I tried peanut butter, pumpkin. I just eventually had to squirt it in his mouth !

Since it is liquid... Squirt in the mouth is best.
With giarda, be sure wherever he poo you clean with bleach... It is very contagious so it is important to clean area after he goes .

My tiny baby was 3 lbs at 10 weeks.
He had giardia and coccidiosis.

I'd just give the meds like you did, squirt it in their mouth then quickly hold closed. I held my boy over the kitchen sink in case he puked.

My schedule for about 6 months was wake up, take potty, clean up, give meds (so if he puked it wasn't his food), feed & give probiotics, finally sit down.

I agree with cleaning everything. If your two dogs have been in the same area to go potty I would get your older one checked again for giardia as well.

I used towels and baby blankets I could bleach in the washer and rotated blankets 3 times a day. My washer never turned off for at least 3 months straight at the beginning!

I also washed all of the dog toys he played with, and kept them in their own area away from the big dog toy basket. Plastics got washed in the sink with hot water, bleach, and dawn and rinsed rinsed rinsed, toys got thrown in the washer on "sanitary" setting.

Do you have any pictures of reese when she was that small??

Thanks for the advice guys ! I went out and bought some bleach spray for outside. Charlie is running around as energetic as ever ! He's stopped having as many bowel movements which is to be expected ! I also went out and bought some blue buffalo puppy food for him! I'm not trying to pack the pounds on him but I feel his breeder under fed him or something.

Did any of you do anything special to help your frenchies grow ? Also...we're your frenchies all ears and skinny legs? Chunks, charlies brother, was always on the heavy side so he just had rolls everywhere. Charlie just seems leaner I suppose. Thanks again for all the kind words, advice, and support !

I didn't feed Wally anything different. Charlie will grow just fine, some take a bit longer than others.

When Wally was a pup he had long legs. He wasn't too tiny but he didn't have rolls either. Now Wally is a very muscular, heavy Frenchie with a massive head. Before & after pics:
