Hi everyone

When I first got bodhi at 12 weeks she was on Bil Jack food. I didn't know anything about that brand so I gradually switched her to Blue life protection formula chicken and brown rice. She never really had firm stools so I switched her to Natural Balance LTD sweet potato and venison. She seems to be having better bowel movements but the more I research I'm not getting the best reviews on the brand.
I would appreciate your input,, should I switch again or leave well enough alone ?

Thanks ~Angela

We are feeding Acana right now. Orijen is also good

Hi Food discussions are huge...yes there are some brands which are bad, but then again people are still feeding them...Your question comes just right, as I'm in my research for the moment to write a blog post on Home - French Bulldog Buzz about dog food...

But here are some recommondations

Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food
Blue Buffalo Life Protection
Blue Buffalo Wilderness Rocky Mountain
CANIDAE

And theer you just choose which fits you well, taste etc...

I dont feed kibble but if I was Id be feeding Orijen or Acana. These are the ones Id feel most comfortable with.

I feed Radar Natural Balance LTD with no issues. I tried Fromms and it did not go well.

A lot of people on here feed Fromm, Acana or Orijen. I recently switched Jax to raw and he's doing so much better. The key is to find a good quality food that works for you and your dog.

I find dogfoodadvisor.com to be quite helpful when looking for a new food. They will also list any recalls. I am currently feeding Sojos grain free pre-mix with grass fed lamb for Stella and wild salmon for Jake.

I just went and bought a bag of Fromm puppy. Heard so many good things about Fromm and our little ones are pretty smelly right now on Acana puppy

Its hard to find a food that works. Trial and error.

Thank you all for your input. I think I will transition to Acana it really looks like a healthy choice.

Hey Angela.

I am also feeding 10w old Louie Acana. We started on Puppy small breed but the next one will definitely be puppy Medium breed, as the small breed ones are so small that the pup never chews them.

The food has turned out great plus i think it's really healthy. The only problem is that Lou is not really crazy about kibble so when feeding we mix in some low fat cottage cheese or low fat yogurt and that increases his interest.

Goodluck on choosing your food

If you are going with kibble:

Fromm ( this is what I feed -- grain free)
Acana
Taste of the Wild
Orijen
Earthborn
Nature's Variety Instinct

are some of the better ones to look into

good luck!

We switched from nutrasource puppy (what breeder was feeding) to Taste of the wild high prairie puppy bison and venison (grain free). Her stools are solid and less frequently (she was having several stools daily) and also she has had fewer pee accidents in the house since switching to this food.

Just wanted to say mine have now been on fromm for a while and it's going very well!!

Royal Canin is NOT a good food at all! Id highly advice against switching to RC.
There are much better brands out there, for example Acana or Orijen. Some do well on Fromm.

Highly advise against royal canin. not sure about natures domain either (never heard of it)

I would visit a smaller pet store ( I find that commercial stores don't sell the best food ) and ask about higher quality kibble. Acana, Orijen, Fromm, Natures Variety.......

Petsmart, which is a large store here sells SOME decent brands... but the good quality kibbles are found at smaller stores

Try looking up any of the foods suggested above and going on their websites and finding a location where they sell it

Bonus was on Royal Canin when we brought her home. We immediately switched her to Fromm and she does not want to eat it after a week. Then I tried Orijen, she loves it . Especially when I added some treats into it, she can finish 1/2 cup in 5 mins!

I started the switch to acana singles, Bodhi loves it and makes me feel bad because she wants more, but I'm following the feeding guidelines on the bag,, already a big improvement with her bowel movements are solid which she hasn't had at all with previous food.
