I'm still waiting on my baby, and some days it drives me crazy. I just want her here sooo bad! Anyway today I booked a pet friendly cabin in the mountains for next Winter. We usually stay in a hotel, but the one we stay at doesn't allow pets. I did find one pet friendly hotel that I think would be great but after talking with the family we decided to go with a cabin. It will be easy to take her out often, and I can't wait to chill on the sofa in front of the fireplace with her! I don't ever have Frenchie stuff to share, so I decided to share my excitement of a vacation next year with her. (How silly is that??)

I think I will be getting her August or September. I'm hoping for August!!

Awww that's great you are already planning though. We stayed in a cottage in Santa Barbara with 3 dogs and my two girls last Thanksgiving and it was great. Grass right out the front door, coffee in front of the fire. You will have a great time. I know you have been waiting a long time, but I'm sure she will totally be worth the wait!!! Do you have any visits planned to see her?

Melody, that is so exciting! You are a very patient person!

You are amazingly patient,,,, sounds like a great trip is planned and it will be her in no time

I am hoping to see her in a few weeks. I wanted to go this weekend, but the breeder that owns her right now has things going on with her kids and is busy on the weekends right now. I told her that I would email her again in a few weeks and hopefully things will have slowed down. I am DYING to see her.
Alice Kable, and 2bullymama. I don't have a choice BUT to be patient. LOL! It will be worth the wait though. When we get her it will have been about a year from when we found out we were getting her. So, it's like waiting to have a baby, but even longer. She's so adorable though.

I tried to tag 2bullymama, and Alice Kable but I'm not sure I did it right? I'm so dumb about that stuff.

Tgirl, that is fabulous - she will be so worth the wait! Is she a retired breeder? What color is she? I hope you take lots of pics!

She is a fawn, and she is a retired breeder, or she will be when I get her. She will be 3 years old this Summer. She is being bred the next time she goes into heat in April or May. Then once the pups are gone, she comes to live with me and my family. I will be taking so many pictures that everyone here will be praying that my camera breaks LOL.

Tgirl - we can't WAIT to see them!!!

Sounds like a great vacation, and no it's not silly, great to plan ahead.

You'll love the cabin rental!! Sometimes, it's just as inexpensive to go with a rental house/cabin. We do one every summer for a large family gathering and have a great time!! Last year we rented a huge house in Brevard, NC and it was awesome! Can't wait to see pics of your Twiggy girl!!

I can't wait and it's not even my dog! lol! Nothing wrong with booking a fun vacation in advance. I love vacationing with the dogs and do it as often as I can.

We have a camper, and love to camp. We have always taken our dogs with us when we camp, until a year or so ago. Clayton is blind and has numerous health issues. He seemed to be nervous and couldn't settle the last couple times we took him so we started leaving him and the Pekingese at the Veterinary hospital where I work. They have always went with me so much that it's like a second home and they are totally comfortable there. Now that the Pekingese has passed away, it's just him but he doesn't really seem to mind. He gets excited when he goes with me to work and he loves the ladies there. I will be so happy to have one to take everywhere with me again.
mhuinker it actually was less expensive than staying at the hotel we usually stay at. Especially since we got a big cabin and are splitting it with my brother in law. The last time we were there I was scoping out all the places we could take her with us while there. I hope she has as much fun as I think she will. So excited!!!

Hey Tgrllll - wow, your story is just like Bambi's! Bambi is three years old, a fawn, and a retired breeder. I will post pics as soon as our camera is working again. She has had three litters and is now spayed. I don't know, but I think because she had so many litters and is young but no longer a puppy, that she came to us with such a sweet disposition and so mellow. She has been just wonderful. She is starting to feel her oats, however, and getting frisky and actually initiating rough play with Ginger, our 50 lb. dobie mix! So funny! She will actually jump up and nip lightly at Ginger's jowel. She'll chase Ginger and then stop on a dime, spin, "growl," etc. - just act crazy dog.

I think it's fine to take them wherever you go because they love their people so much and would rather be with you than without. I would bring the crate and bedding that she uses every day, however, just so she has something totally familiar and a place of safety to go if she needs to decompress.

You will be so happy when you get your little girl. I didn't see it, but does she have a name or are you going to rename her?

I am going to buy a crate like the one she sleeps in now. I am probably going to put her in the crate at night in my bedroom at first until she gets used to living with us. I feel like since she sleeps in a crate now, she will feel more comfortable there at first. Once she is settled (I'm hoping only a couple weeks), I am going to see if I can get her to sleep with me. :D Her name is Twiggy. She is fantastic, and the breeder/ current owner is great too. She is well socialized and full of beans already.

Bambi sounds like a fun little girl! I can't wait to see some pictures. :)

Twiggy - love it! These frenchie names are so cute!

We purchased two crates for Bambi, too. We have one in the kitchen where she and Ginger are during the day, and one in our bedroom. For whatever reason, she prefers the one in the kitchen and will go down in the middle of the night and sleep there. Most of the time, Ginger will join her, (their crates are next to each other), and that makes me very happy. I think at the place we got Bambi, she was in her crate almost all of the time. Little things pointed to that. The breeder said that they would put newspaper in the back of her crate because it was easy to clean up. They suggested at least a 30" crate so she could lay in front and toilet in the back "if she needed to". Also, they said that they hung a water bucket in her crate so she would have access to water all day. (?) Hmmm. Anyway, I would suggest you get a much smaller crate than 30". Bambi is dwarfed in her 30" crate and has never messed in there even though it is so big. She has two wire crates and I hung blankets over both of them to protect from drafts. She loves her crate.

Sorry - P.S. I bet Twiggy will love to sleep with you. They are like Velcro dogs, content to be with you and especially "on" you. Bambi stays put wherever I place her - on the bed next to me, on my lap, etc. She can fall asleep anywhere, as long as she is next to me. I really can't wait for you to get your girl!

I will probably get two crates also. One for night time in my room (until she gets used to being there and will sleep with me), and one in the family room that I will put her in when I have to leave the house to run errands or whatever. I'm thinking I will do that until I know she is fully trained and really acclimated well to our home. Once I know I can trust her, I will probably leave them there, just leave them open so she has the option to go in if she wants. :)

I think I get to see her this weekend! Yay! I can't express how excited I am, actually how excited my whole family is.

I don't know how patient I am. I am dying to get her! I am definitely going tomorrow though, just heard back from the breeder. :)
