Ok, so I'm a first time Frenchie owner and I've had my baby for almost a year- he is a great dog- so loving, great with kids, intelligent and just all around great. I've had several folks ask me if I'd ever breed Max and I don't really know if or how to try and start this process- from what I've read, breeding frenchies can be alot of work & if I were to really do this, I'd want to do it right- I'd want to learn from somebody and have someone who knows more about this than me tell me my boy is a good candidate to breed. I did get Max's pedigree from the akc and there are several champions ; grand champions in his bloodline but that's about all I know. This is not really intended to be an ad for stud services or anything- at this point I'm more just interested in info. Thanks.

Hello! I have never bred a pet, so I'm really no help there!

It would be great if you'd do an introduction and post some pictures of Max!

If you are really thinking about this can you contact your breeder and ask if they can mentor you? Otherwise your best bet would be to attend some dog shows and local groups to meet some breeders and handlers to find out what they think. Also you need to check your papers to find out if you have full registration or limited registration.

Also if you want to breed him, I suggest showing him, or finding a handler to show him. If he can become an AKC champion, then he is good enough to breed and this way, you will find more people who would want to use him as a stud. The problem with a lot of people who just want to bred and throw two together without checking to see if their two pedigrees are comparable to create some great healthy, and good personality Frenchies. This is where you get unhealthy and ugly Frenchies. Check your papers to see if they are limited or not, and then talk to your breeder about it. Hopefully they also show their Frenchies and can help you show yours.

If you are going to put this foal to use and make sure it has a loving home for the rest of its days, then sure. I say go for it.

Here is a pic of Max. Thank you all for your input- I do have full papers and a pedigree on Max and I do also have someone who is interested in showing him. I definitely don't want to breed him irresponsibly. I've never owned a French bulldog before Max but thanks to him I am now officially in live with the breed! I'd only want to breed him if I was sure he and the mama dog would produce great puppies :)
