So I have trouble getting my 10 month old pup to walk. She stops every twenty steps. Takes us ages to walk a mile. However when walking with more than one person, she's great. Spent Thanksgiving with my parents and we took Carrot on three mile walks every day with no problem. She motored along with very few stops. So obviously she likes to walk with a pack! How do I get her to walk when it's only me?

Give her lots of encouragement and praise when she is walking and reward her with a special high value treat that she only gets on walks. Good luck. Frenchies can be a bit stubborn I know.

I agree, try the treats when walking. This should help.

Yesterday I accidentally found out what ricos favorite treat was.... marshmallows. Hahaha. I'm gonna tether a harness with a dangling marshmallow to him.... see if that works hahaha.

agreed!

I had this issue with Frankie when walking home...she'll walk for miles but when she realises we're heading back to the car, she digs her paws in and won't walk any further!! So to conquer this I always carry tiny cubes of cheese which I put in my hand when it's home time and she won't leave my side, every now and then rewarding her with a piece when she is walking well. It pretty much is like dangling it in front of her but it works :D

Treats don't really help. She will walk a few steps the first time but then just sits there waiting for them. Like I said she's a GREAT walker when we're in a group. Just not as good when it's just me and her

My dog, Honey, has a favourite toy, a Hartz brand bacon scented rubber ball ( which used to squeak before Honey punctured it with holes ), so I carry that sometimes and dangle that in front of her to get her to walk in the cold weather.
