Just out of curiosity, is there anything that you have specifically taught your Frenchie(s) to do?

We have done so well so far. She is super smart, and I've managed to channel all that bully energy and stubbornness into doing the right thing, lol. She's really good. I've even gotten her to stop and sit at streetcorners and traffic stops, which shocks me! Is there anything else that we might have missed training wise?

The only problems I'm running into is, a) finding a good harness that doesn't rest on her neck when we're walking. And B) I've been wondering - does anyone else's Frenchie do this? When we're walking it can be a bit of a challenge as she will stop to stand up and try to get people to see her as we walk. It is adorable and I know she just is very social, but I've never known a dog who does that before. She literally will hold a grudge sometimes and stop to stare angrily at people if they don't stop.

Good for you - a stimulated dog is a happy dog.

John has taught Bambi to shake - no big deal - but it is so funny to see her do it with her short little legs. I could eat her up! They are all so sweet.

Mavis Thank you! I'm pretty shocked myself that she listens so well - I've really tried, but sometimes they just have minds of their own.

Bambi is adorable. I'm sure that's pretty cute! Ella shakes too, but usually puts both paws up and more steps into your hand, lol. Anything to get a treat!

So far banksy knows how to sit, lay down, shake a paw... and he knows when I say outside he runs to the door, inside runs back in, and go to bed he walks to his dog bed.

Aiko knows sit, shake a paw, and just recently SPEAK which is so adorable. she also knows go to your room, she walks into her kennel and she knows outside means go to the door and inside means go to the door to be let in

I am working on teaching aiko Lay down and it has been so hard
I'm working on roll over with banksy which is also hard lol

Haha! this had me LOL! Nellie knows sit; down and not a very firm stay. She also sit and stays as street corners and lights and knows `lets go`. We are only at about a 40% recall though. She totally refuses to come when called especially when she is outside. And she is just the same as your girl! She gets so offended when people don`t stop to pet her, because truth be told all of my neighbors LOVE HER and they literally compete for her attention. So when someone walks by, she tries to get their attention and leans forward to get to them. And when they don`t respond. she sits and stares them down hard. Then she will walk a few steps and turn around and look at them like `wow, i can`t believe you don`t think am cute`. LOL

What he was taught and what he will do are two totally different things!

What a smart pup you have. I wish I would have trained my two sooner than later. It would have been much easier. Took a long time for them to learn "down". I realized they did not want to lie down on the cold tile floor and would gladly follow the command on their bed or carpet. So Jake and Stella know sit, down, go to your spot, (they go to their bed and lie down), stay, go potty, and leave it. I think leave it is the most important command for any dog to know. We use it a lot!

Nellie sounds very similar to Ella! I also, however, truthfully don't understand how someone could walk past their cute faces either.

It is too funny. She gets so indignant!

Thank you! She will not lay on the floor either - it must be a Frenchie thing. We too also use leave it quite a lot!

Haha. That is the key!

That's hilarious. Rico will do the same exact thing when people don't stop to pay attention to him.... He gets into this mean bulldog stance ears up and forward and will just stare and stare and won't move until they acknowledge him. They when they do he will ram into their leg and fall to the ground and demand a belly rub. If I try to divert him during a stare off.... It's just not happening.

Otherwise the things he does very well are:

Sit
Stay
Down
Come (only indoors... Won't come outside)
Go in your house (crate)

Things he doesn't do well, but will sometimes listen to:

Let's go (when he pauses on a walk)
Come (outside when there's no diversions)
Leave it (unless it's food lol)

My biggest teaching hurdle right now is loose leash walking and consistent walking in general.
