Hi everyone,
Since starting raw a few weeks ago, my husband and I both think Daphne looks like she may have lost a little weight. She fluctuates between 26-28 pounds (on former vet's scale). These aren't the greatest pics, but does she look like she's at a healthy weight? I can see a slight play of her ribs. I feed her 1/2 a frozen patty plus one crushed up nugget and goat's milk, twice per day. Daphne gets small treats every time she potties outside and when she goes into her crate at night. She does seem hungry throughout the day and hangs out under my daughter's seat at the table. Is that a Frenchie thing or do you think I am not feeding her enough?

Thanks!

She looks to be just right. Honestly, most dogs are hungry all of the time--so am I!

It's easiest to tell if you take a pic from above, but 26-28 lbs is toward the top of the Frenchie scale and she doesn't look skinny in the pic you posted. Looks good.

Gus is 14 months old and gets just under 10 oz (raw grind) a day. He's been staying around 22-23 lbs.

Agree about photo from above so you can see waist.

Jax usually weighs between 28-30 pounds and he’s raw fed. Sometimes you have to play around with the amounts given.

Also, I don’t think it’s uncommon for them to lose a couple pounds and maybe look a different as they are eating a fresh diet versus eating kibble which is processed.

From this picture Daphne looks good and she’s such a cutie!

Thanks mattcantwin, Alice Kable, and Frenchie Grrrl. I may try to snap a pic of her from above, but good to know none of you feel she is too thin. She seemed maybe a bit chunky when we first got her so even if she lost a pound or two on her new diet, it's probably a healthier weight. She gets a lot of exercise too. Also glad to know her endless pursuit of food is normal ;-)

Thanks!

Oops. How did I miss this reply? Sorry. Thanks for the input and kind words :-)

Including this view just for the heck of it. Too thin or still okay?

Thanks :-)

Thanks Squishy Walnuts and 2bullymama!

Now that is is getting so dang hot, I may experiment and cut out one of her walks. We are doing almost 3 1/2 miles per day (super early in am and in evening) and she plays with my cat and other dog so girlfriend gets pleeeeeeenty of exercise. I'm thinking it frankly might be too much. Maybe I can pull back a bit and see if that makes a difference. Appreciate your kind words and advice, everyone!

I would up her food a bit. Henry gets about that much exercise and I feed 1lb of raw a day split in two meals, plus extras and he’s doing great. He’s a fit 27lbs. If she is enjoying her exercise, I wouldn’t cut her back. You really should use guidelines as that, just a guideline. Look at your dog and adjust food to her drive and well being..

Based on the photo with the above view, she can probably gain a couple pounds. I would increase food a smidge.

Good advice, thanks. I am out of school now for the summer, so we can really work on playing with the amount of food she gets and how many walks, etc...

Hi there,
At first I didn't think it looked too bad when I posted, but the more I look at it, the skinnier she looks in the waist. Going to work on it. Thank you!

I've always joked that Gus had a bodybuilder's V shaped bod, with big shoulders and a trim waist, but I never realized how tiny of a booty he had until I started looking at the pics in this thread. Gus definitely has some uniquely scrawny back legs. Love him, though.
