Hi, I have a 3 month old Frenchie, she is our little princess, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why she is so small. She's barely weighing in at about 2 lbs. and is already 3 months old. She's very spirited, great personality, otherwise very healthy looking, but is this normal? Very confused. Saw both parents, well recommended breeder, everything is in order, but not sure why she is so tiny.

They all grow at different rates. There are some on here that started out tiny (mine was barely 3 lbs at 12 weeks) but got big (now 29 pounds at 1.5 years!!) and others who started small and stayed small (Tallulah comes to mind, she just had her first birthday and I believe she's 16 pounds). As long as the vet thinks she's okay and she's eating and playing and seems fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it!

I agree, they all grow at different rates & if shes heathy and continues to grow steadily and regularly, i wouldn't worry. My little princess was tiny too, just 3 lbs at 12 weeks so much smaller than her littermates & other frenchies the same age. She just turned 1 year old and is just 16 pounds, still much smaller than other frenchies, but perfectly healthy. As Erica said, others have dogs who started out tiny & grew to average or even larger than average. Every dog is different. Good luck with your new baby & we want to see pictures!

She is tiny. What does her vet. say? How about the rest of her litter, are they tiny, too? I'd love to see a picture of her!

Welcome to you and your princess! That is quite small. Does the vet say she is healthy? Did she have littermates that were small also? If the vet has given her a clean bill of health and she is eating, playing, etc. I wouldn't worry about it. Would love to see pictures of her.

That is pretty small for 3 months, but as others have said, they all grow at different rates, and as long as she is gaining weight and healthy, I wouldn't worry.

Vet says everything looks fine for now. Some of her litter mates were same size and others were bigger. Not sure how to post pictures?image.webp

Awww so cute! Sounds like she is perfectly fine. She's just a small girl.

They all grow at different paces and end up at different weights. Our Bisou was a behemoth at 4 months when we got her, weighing in at nearly 13 lbs! She just turned a year old and has been at 21 lbs for the past several months, so she didn't end up as large as we thought she was going to. I wish there was some magic formula to find out what sizes they're going to be, but the path to final weight is a wavy one. As long as the vet says she's healthy, I think you've just got a little pup on your hands... who knows how big she'll be!
