My Rico is 7months old and he has 2 bald spots (images above) that have popped up, they don't seem to bother him, I haven't seen him itching or scratching but I'm assuming its because I caught it early. I took him to a holistic vet in LA and he told me its Dermatitis. He prescribed enzymes and probiotics and he's been on them for about 4 days now. I'm really praying this helps because I would hate for my baby to be in any discomfort. He's only 7months so he's going to have this his entire life which is why I want to tackle this at keep this at bay asap. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so what has helped? He is also on home cooked food NO KIBBLE. I try to stay away from sugar & starch and of course grains as I know this triggers it. I also add salmon & coconut oil to his food as well as a teaspoon of ACV. I would like to stay as natural and holistic as possible throughout this process of treating his Dermatitis.

Did vet do skin scraping to rule out mange? If it is that he should go on a flea and tick product like Nexgard monthly for at least 3 months to cure that. If mange has been ruled out thyroid disease and cushings disease should also be ruled out. Seasonal alopecia disorder is not that likely since he's young and it usually starts earlier in year, but if it is that you can try melatonin.

Can you post a picture or tell us where the loss of fur is on him? At his age, I agree it might be mange

He actually has an appt tomorrow where I will request a skin scrapping. I dont think its mange because he doesnt scratch it what so ever. Its as if its not even there. I know with Mange the scratching would be extreme and very noticeable. I also wipe him down daily and review his skin/fur constantly.

Hi!

I just uploaded the images to my original post, let me know if you're able to see them? One is on his side and the other is on his arm. He actually has another appt tomorrow and I will ask them to do the skin scrapping. I doubt its mange because theres zero scratching its as if he doesnt even know its there. I know with mange the first sign is sever scratching. I also check his skin/fur daily and wipe him down

Definitely get the scrape... could be mange. They don’t always scratch at it

That should be good- good for 3 months, same class as Nexgard, very effective for mange, fleas and ticks.

Yes absolutely! I just ordered him an all in one supplement by Wholistic Pet Organics not sure if you've heard of it? But it contains Vitamins, Minerals, pre & pro biotics, enzymes, fatty acids and antioxidants!

Hello, jumping on the thread. How are the supplements working out? i have been looking to see what i need to add to my Banksy's diet. he's had some fur thinning on the backs of his ears and his belly. i do think the belly is more cause of his harness...which he hates wearing. :(
