Hi all,
Tonight as Calvin was falling asleep he started to have what looks like head tremors. He was still responsive during the episode and would snap out of it after I started petting his head and body. Does anyone know anything about this or what it could be caused from/if I should be worried? The first thing I thought was that he was having a seizure and it was terrifying not knowing what to do in that situation.

After doing some research and watching YouTube videos, it was definitely not a full blown seizure. It was just his head shaking. I also read it could be related to a blood sugar/calcium issue?

Anyone that has any thoughts or experience with this I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

They are scary but totally painless and harmless ... idiopathic head tremors... give and type of treat to distract the muscles. There is no know cause or reason for them. I always noticed with my female... they seemed stress related and one of my males they seemed allergy season related because that was when i noticed higher incidents of them.

As long as he is alert, responsive and takes a treat... it is not a seizure

Thanks for the reply. He seemed to have an episode every time he would be falling asleep last night. I sat up and read about it for hours but it's still making me nervous every time it happens :(

As 2bullymama said, they are harmless. It could have been brought on by him being too tired. Some say a little Honey, or even a little yogurt will help. Hopefully he won't have them often. If he is still young, make sure he gets plenty of rest in between play time and doesn't get too over worked.

My daughter's Am Bulldog has head tremors. She will try and distract her with a treat and it helps them stop.

Calvin only had them that one night. Haven't seen it happen since.. I've been feeding him Greek yogurt with honey twice a day to help with possible calcium and low blood sugar levels

Mine just starting doing them this morning I got scared and drove straight to the vet. All vitals were good. I believe it was just a head tremor. It's just scary and sad. I just posted a tread about this I didn't see yours. Thanks for some advice!

I feed my bulldog Costco Kirkland brand unflavored greek low fat yoghurt. Unpasteurized local honey will also help for seasonal allergies.
