On Thursday night I gave Jax a kangaroo tail to chew on and I turned around for two minutes and the whole thing was gone. He must have swallowed it and I'm assuming there is a bone in his belly. He's been eating, drinking and going to the bathroom and acting normal but yesterday and during the night he's been trying to throw up. I'm going to call the vet when they open this morning. Thoughts????

Oh, Jax :/

Was it raw or smoked? And how big was the piece that he swallowed?
If it was a rather small piece of the raw tail, he should be able to break it down.
But if it was smoked or a huge piece, Id be a little nervous about blockage. Has he recently pooped?

Good luck!
Maple is a gulper as well, so I can only give her things to chew on, that do not fully fit in her mouth. If I give her a chicken neck for example, I always have to hold it so she can bite pieces of. Otherwise it'd be gone in a second :/

This guy!!! It's not raw, it says gently dried. He must have eaten all the meat off and then swallowed the bone. I would say the bone is maybe 2 x 2 but kind is is an odd shape. He pooped 3 times yesterday and he pooped this morning and are his breakfast. I spoke to the vets office and they said as long as he is eating and pooping I should just monitor him. But if they said if he continues to try and vomit or vomiting, I should take him in as they might need to go in and remove it. This is the first time he's ever swallowed anything like that.

Aww...Jax! Good that you got hold of your vet. It's a good sign that he continues pooping...his stomach acids should melt the bone.
Our boy is also a gulper. Was freaking out when he gulped the whole pig nose not long ago. Luckily it worked itself out and I'm hoping the same will be with Jax.

I agree. As long as he is pooping and eating, it will probably be ok.
Fingers crossed!

I agree. If he is eating and pooping he should be fine.

This was Thursday night? How is he now? Hope he is doing good :) these frenchies will eat anything hey, wow.

He's still eating and pooping and no vomiting so I'm keeping fingers crossed! How long until I don't have to worry anymore?

I would say you are in the clear but if he is okay in another couple of days, he will be fine.

They can hold items in their stomach for a very long time. Alice Kable can tell you her story, my fur kids have kept things in their stomach for weeks. If it is too big to go into the intestine it will stay in the stomach, until it tries to go and causes a blockage. Until then he may randomly try to vomit it out. Mine vomited it out weeks later, except for the one blockage.

Is he still doing good? No more attempts at vomiting?

Yes, still eating and pooping and he hasn't tried to vomit anymore. I will continue to watch him and hope for the best! No more kangaroo tails for this guy!

Ugh...just when I think I'm in the clear.

I'm sorry, you probably are. Keep it in mind in case he becomes sick practice weird later on.

One of our English Bulldogs had small pieces of a toy in his system for something like 9 or 10 months. He ended up having 5 inches of his colon removed. He ate and pooped normal for most of the time. He had been xrayed looking for a blockage a month or 2 after he ingested the toy piece. Cbrugs
