Is this a detox?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick update on the Nutriscan test. It arrived on the Monday a week after I ordered it, so I was able to get him to chew up the rope and post off on the Tuesday for next day delivery to California. I mentioned to my husband I could hand deliver just to make sure it got there, but that would have made it a VERY expensive test haha!! :)

Got the results back yesterday, so under a week. What an excellent service. And now for the interesting stuff.....

He's highly reactive to corn, turkey, white fish, salmon, barley, oats, peanuts, rice, soy, rabbit.
He's reactive to - pretty much everything else.

I was quite surprised when I saw it, as it confirmed what I had thought about a number of things, but being reactive to all the meats was quite a shock. So it gives me an idea of what to avoid, and what may be OK to try, but access to really novel proteins, such as emu, kangaroo etc. in the U.K. is extremely limited. Im hopeful that some of the borderline reactions may work out ok for him, but I'll certainly be avoiding all the highly reactive foods.

Interestingly enough, I've been feeding him salmon oil since he was tiny, and it has come back as "avoid". So I've stopped that immediately.

If anyone is thinking about going for this test, I'd recommend it. To have pointers on what to avoid, and what may be OK, is really worth, and hopefully will mean I'm not putting him through hell in future feeding him something that causes him to break out. He's still currently a mess, but the pads suggested back a few posts have really helped his feet. They look great. It's a daily issue, but hopeful we're going to get somewhere more positive now :)

Wow!! He's allergic to so many things!! Maybe you can try lamb? That might be easier to get in the UK. How reactive is he to beef or pork?

I'm jumping on this thread a bit late, but nonetheless we did Nutriscan also for both Jake and Stella. Stella has the worst allergies and basically nothing showed up for her and Jake is to avoid peanuts, pork, corn and potatoes. I think the majority of their issues are from environmental allergies, but I wanted to find out as much as I could. Good luck finding a novel protein that you can feed him.

It came back with him being borderline reactive to: beef, chicken, duck, lamb, pork, venison, wheat, egg, sweet potatoes. So he may or may not react badly to these. He is a mess on the beef. He was on pork, and wasn't as bad but it still wasn't what you would call acceptable - red face, eyes, etc. This was maybe down to the salmon oil though, so I will try again as I still have some in the freezer. I will also try him on the other proteins, to see if we can find some that are better than others.

They also mentioned that we could try goat, if he can manage lamb ok. So if I try the lamb and he does ok, I'll be able to track down a supplier of goat. I also found one company who can supply kangaroo and quail at 80/10/10 ready mixed, but it's soooooo expensive. Three times what we're currently paying for his grass fed meat. But at least I know I can get it, even every now and again just to change things up a bit.

It's going to be a lot of trial and error over then next few months with the borderline proteins, but fingers crossed we can at least find a couple of things he does well on and go from there.

That's exactly why I wanted to do it too - to get as much info as possible to work with. We did the environmental testing last year and he also has a dust mite problem. It flares up any time it's warm in the house. I'm dreading the heating coming on in the next couple of weeks as it'll no doubt cause him problems.......

Regarding yeast infections:
Malacetic wipes worked well for me- but those duoxo chlorhexidine wipes linked to earlier look even better !! I have also tried washing the dog's wrinkles in Curaseb shampoo (from Amazon), which is a cheaper version of Malacetic shampoo, and then rinsing and drying the wrinkles out after. Sudocream is also nice to rub in inflamed wrinkles. I find that if my dog eats some coconut oil every day it improves her smell after a few days. I'm also giving my dog some chlorpheniramine 4mg antihistamine tablets twice daily ( because they are really inexpensive generics ) to help with environmental allergies, but I think cetirizine (Reactine, Zyrtec) once daily is more convenient,

Those pads really are great - I could see a difference within 3 days, and in a week his feet were looking great. We use Sudocrem too. It's a battle to stop it going all over the carpet of course, but definitely helps soothe the sore bits :)
