Hi Everyone!
We have a 13 week old male frenchie who we got because the people said his nose was a little longer than the standard so they were trying to get rid of him for way cheaper than the rest of his litter. He has lazy ears. They have been kind of silly this week and randomly one will stand if he hears something or even both but then fall again. He's also been holding them back. When can I expect them to stand? Should I give him some yogurt to help? When he's laying on his side his ear typically stands! I'll attach a picture of them down and laying when they're up.

Thank you! IMG_1072.jpgIMG_1093.jpg

Welcome!

I don't have any personal experience with floppy ears but there are several other threads on here that you can probably find through the search function. I know some people give yogurt to help but I have no idea how much.

This happen to me before. I took him to the vet and was told to give him calcium. A week passed and the ear got up by its self

:smileywelcome: to you and Calvin! He is adorable with ears up or down!

Kirkland plain fat free greek probiotic yoghurt is good, as is cottage cheese. Both are really healthy foods

He is a cutie either way. Sometimes when they are teething their ears will do that, and will come up in a few weeks, plus poor breeding will also do it. The yogurt can't hurt, and as he gets a little older, they should go up and stay up.

Thank you! I definitely think he was just a "hey we have two frenchies let's breed them" type deal. One other in his litter also had the lazy ears. They said the dads didn't stand until 5 months. So I think they will eventually. I'll do the plain Greek yogurt. They have been like sort of standing sometimes and going back and doing weird things. So I'm thinking they will stand eventually. Either way, were in love! He has such a big personality. If we could just get potty training down!! Lol

But currently they are both down and have been for about a month due to teething? Not sure if that but just enjoy it... all dogs are different and do different things, i believe its a puppy phase that some of them go through, i know that when most of his teeth fell off they started going down and hopefully with the teething process he has been chewing a lot so could be his jaw muscle are tired and not helping hold his ears or others have stated lack of calcium but im not sure if thats the root cause but just enjoy your puppy as they are! My donnie is only 6 months and has another 6 months to go before he is one and a lot of things can happen in 6 months so its kinda a wait and see thing...

:welcome3: .... he is adorable. Agree with the others, it may be due to teething

He is just teething . If it becomes a problem up the calcium with yogurt and you can tape the ears too

OMG, he is so cute! I think his ears definitely want to stand. In that first picture, his ears are bigger than he is! He is precious.

I think this is referred to as airplane ears :)
