He's a shredder for sure! Everything has to be moved out of his reach!
I have to ask... Did he jump up on the counter?! That is one athletic little guy.
Squishy Walnuts any advice? I have tried all any text book or Cesar has advised. He just do not release. With his own toys, yes. But anything he knows he has stolen, no way. He is not food driven. I have piled sausages and various other treats he like, but it doesn't work. Always when he steals things, they over rule everything else.
He is now 1,5 years and jaws are really strong. I cannot pry them open with my fingers, he is just too strong.
I worry of the occasion when he actually takes something really dangerous (he has once took a glass ornament) and I just cannot get it out.
How have you train you bulldogs to let go of things??
Today's episode frightened me in so far that now I know that by the methods I have, I cannot get anything out of that mouth
I'm used to a very food driven Frenchie so I'm not sure how to get Moses to drop something he shouldn't have taken without using treats. He thinks it's a game that he must win so you have to somehow change his way of thinking. He's reading your reaction to whatever he's got in his mouth and acts accordingly. Maybe next time he steals something try not to make a fuss and treat it like he's got one of his toys in his mouth. I would also try to work on the drop it and leave it command every day to get him more used to doing it.
I wish I could be of more help but I never had this issue with Wally, or Uma. Hopefully someone else here will have more decent tips for you. Moses is a damn clever Frenchie!
Yep. I was wondering how did he get hold of the roll! It turned out as follows: He still needs his meds for the ear infection and I have a table downstairs, not quite as high as kitchen counter, where I keep the stuff for him. He must have managed to jump on that to get to roll. Thank god he only took the roll, since all his meds and syringes and needles are there too! Have took them to safer place since! These little guys keeps on amazing me...they are clever as any! be aware!
Exactly! he shows the stolen items as trophy! Like today, I tried even the heimlich-type of approach and tried to held him head down for a while to make him drop the item, but no luck. I carried him to fridge and piled sausages on top of his head to encourage to drop the roll, no luck.
I'm getting frustrated of that little guy out smarting me on ever turn!
Isolation worked, but I cannot use it in case he has something dangerous in his mouth. Awww...still a long way to go...bulldogs definitely live up to their "bully" expectations.

that is interesting for sure
You could maybe try a couple drop it training sessions. Give a toy, say drop it, give treat... repeat a few times for the one session and quit, and try it daily for a little while
I know you said he already drops his toys but doing some sessions might drill the command into his mind and maybe connect it to when he has something else? Just a thought
Isabelle doesn't drop things she stole either. They are totally her trophies and she is SO proud of her mischief!
She also makes the crazy scary noises, but I never back down from her, so she eventually gives up. She knows mama is in charge and WILL win ha!
Titan on the other hand I can tap his face like his nose/mouth area lightly, and he spits everything and anything he picks up out! And I never ever trained that with him! Plus he's deaf so it's literally a miracle!
