Name game

Hudson was originally supposed to be Weston. Everyone in my life was quietly like hmm that's cute...when they heard it. Then one day I randomly thought of Hudson and everyone was like it's perfect!!! So then I knew they all hated Weston lol so Hudson it was. He would've been Stella had we gotten a girl. My SO gets to name the next one and he has picked Henri, he pronounces it with a funny southern drawl/French accent combo and it's hilarious.

Hudson is rarely called Hudson. He goes by H, Huddie, Boogie Bear, Boogs, BBMB (stands for boogie boogie munchkin bear). Who knows where those all came from.

I call Jax Boogs too which is short for Boogers which is actually the name I usually call him. And Stinkers.

Wally's nicknames are Little Man, Waddles, Fart A$$, Hefty, Walter and Walnuts.

Hi everyone. I just joined today but have been reading the posts for a while and love the stories and information. When I got Moby he was tiny but had a giant personality so I thought Moby was a cute and kinda ironic name. Mini has a black Minnie Mouse spot on her side. I spelled it "Mini" because she's also tiny and I love Mini Coopers. :)

bullmama I specifically made this post to say doggies and not frenchies so that you could tell us about your dogs name too :)

Awe thanks! Molly is my oldest girl, she is named after Molly Weasley on the Harry Potter books, we call her mama or mollmoll and of course there's "its a mamma ze bae-bae"

Khloe Mandy and Otis came to us with there names but we do call Khloe Klo-klo puffs

Our first bulldog, baby, was called Jesse. So we named Jesse after her original name.

Yuna and Tidus my grand babies are named from a video game!!

Don't even get me started on all my grand pups. The litters we had we themed names so it was so fun with them, oh how I miss them!

My niece just had her first baby and his name is Weston!

Before we got Jake, I made a list of names and every time I would ask my husband if he liked a certain name he would say no. I didn't like the names he liked and he didn't like the names I liked. He wanted to name him Rufus or Otis and I said no!
I thought about naming him after his dad, Gizmo, but hubby said nope. So Jake was the only name we agreed on. We call him a bear cub because when he runs he looks like one with all of his fat skin moving side to side.
Stella was kind of the same story. No rhym or reason, but just a name we agreed on. I was thinking of Boo because she was born on Halloween, but again hubby shot that down. We call her a panther, because she is sleek, fast and cat-like with her feet. We also call her peanut because she is so much smaller than Jake.

this sounds all so familiar. I have been shooting names my boyfriends way and each time it's like..no...no...no...nooo...meh...no....

LOL

Okay and I read your paragraph way too fast and for a second I thought you were saying we were going to Name him Dad.. and I was like well, that's odd. then I re read it ahha!

I love both the names Jake and Stella

I'm a huge kangaroo fan. In 2005 I had these cute lil stuffed animals name Kataroo and Boomer. My husband at the time starting calling me Mama Roo and it's stuck ever since. When I got Gracie, my Weimaraner in 2007, I changed her name to Gracen Roo. I have been to Quintana Roo for vacation as well, mostly because of the name. Before I found Q and was just looking at Frenchies, I was looking at English and French names. I wanted something for a female, but a tad masculine. I really like Joey (Joey Roo), but didn't want something traditional. I was then thinking along the lines of Quintana Roo which led me to being set on a Q name. After a few days of searching, I had a list or 4 or 5 names. Then I found Q. The craziest thing ever was that her name by the breeder was Francesca La Roux. It must've been fate. I'm a roo girl and she's a roux girl! I settled on Quella, which means 'kill', which I am comfortable with being Frenchies were used to hunt mice in lace shops back in the day. La Roux is French for red, so Quella La Roux stuck. I've never regretted the decision since. Everyone thinks I say Koala or questions why or what Quella means.

I usually call her Quella Bella, Squeeks, Mama's Roux, Sassy Pants, Sassy Panties, Fuzzy Butt, Q, Q-Roux, Sissy La La, Varmint, Rodent, Princess, Quella Bear, Saucy, saucy pants, woo woo, Quells, Quella La Poux (Poo), Pee pee poo poo head. What's embarrassing is saying the above names in public. I think people think I'm crazy, or at least it solidifies it.

The other day Q tooted in Hobby Lobby and I was so embarrassed. I of course blamed it on her. I said 'it's kibble'. These 2 lil kids thought that was her name and were petting her and calling her kibble. OMG too cute!

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

When i was looking for my frenchie, i was looking for a Male. We are huge Yankee fans & i had 2 males at home, Jeter & DiMaggio so i was considering another Yankee player name.

God knew better, and a teeny tiny female - just 3 pounds at 12 weeks old- became available. She was a homely looking runt not at all like the other pudgy cute puppies the breeder had. I wanted a big, frilly, girly name for my little runt - and Tallulah fit the bill! She is still teeny tiny but with a big personality & her name is perfect!

As fate would have it, a 6 month old male frenchie became available through FBRN less than a year later, and we were fortunate enough to be chosen as his forever home. After many different trys at names & lots of back & forth with my husband & boys, I prevailed and our puppy became Munson after NY Yankee great Thurman Munson. Hus name seems to fit him as well

I have another frenchie named Vader he died cause of unexpected jump out of the car he never ever tried to jump out but for some reason that one day week after his birthday he decided to do it. I caught his legs but was too heavy I decided instead of him falling under the car I tried to throw him as hard as I can to the curb the car was still running and won't be able to make a stop right away since the car at our back is close and we might get into an accident, and atleast my thinking if I throw him at the curb he would still be alive even tho would probably have broken limbs but was too heavy and still fell under the car [emoji852] couple months later I saw a frenchie and immediately fell in love and I named him stitch because from the movie lilo and stitch stitch made them feel their family is complete. And as stitch in the movie portrays as a French bulldog and just so happen that my stitch is a blue brindle frenchie.

Chance not the first named picked by far was wanting Tonka like a sturdy Tonka toy or Ta Tonka little buffalo as i find they look like buffalo or hippos you know the kind that leaves footprints in the butter or peanut butter and sleep on dust mites that commercial anyway. The breeder was calling him Charles and I hated the name and at this time the local vets had a competition to raise funds and knowledge. There was dancing and all sorts of pets and they were saying take a chance. I wanted to take a Chance and it being close to Charles seemed to work out just fine. I call him Chance or Chancer my love name for him is bug the other half gets no response to Chance but he wags his stubby tail full blast for Rat Bastard - no kidding

Hi guys! I am curious to hear the story behind your doggies names!! How you chose it and what it means to you, or who they're named after!

I will go first!

Banksy is a street artist, political activist, and film director. I have been a fan of him since I was a teenager. The coolest part about him is that his identity is unknown. His work is on streets, walls, bridges, etc. throughout cities all over the world.

Here are my 2 favorites by Banksy

Oh, only now I figured out why that name rang a bell in my head :) That is one peculiar artist. I read from some magazine this summer that he arranged a strange exhibition in UK - World's most depressive theme park :D I wish I would have had a chance to visit. Who is that guy anyway? ;)

Naming Moses was easy for us. I had been thinking of that name literally years and decided that if ever I will get another dog, he will be Moses. And we lucked out when we first time met him...he looked exactly like Moses :)

For the second one we had initially thought naming Jethro, but faith had another plans and we got Oscar. For a short while we still thought of changing it to Jethro, but once we saw the first pics and met him in person, Oscar he will remain :)
He also was already old enough to know his name when he came to us, so changing it would have confused him for no reason.

Moses & Oscar

I love both Moses and Oscar. Great names!

This is a fun thread! I love hearing what other names people call their babies - it's brilliant!

My husband and I love watching box sets on TV, and the first one we watched was Dexter - hence the name! People said we were mad naming him after a murdering psychopath haha! He's not showing any tendancies yet!

He also gets called toot-toot, because he does a lot of these!! And pookie / the pookster! Crazy!!!

We call our dog poo poo bear because all he does is eat and poo.

Hello again
So we decided to name our new baby girl AIKO. It means little loved one in Japanese. We got the idea from Lady Aiko.. she is a Japanese street artist who makes really beauiful art. Now both our babies are named after street artists
