A bone to celebrate!

He gets tested again in a week, then we know 100% but since it was negative it's also a good sign he's not a carrier. But it came back negative!! I jumped out of bed this morning like a spring!

I keep editing this cause I was so excited I didn't even know what to write!

Yay!!!! Congratulations!! What a weight off of your shoulders. Well done!

That is so very exciting!!! What a strong little guy he is to have pulled through, and what a strong mama you are for riding it out with him!! You guys deserve a party :beerparty:

Thank you!! All of you! You were all a part in helping me help Titan in some way! I appreciate all of you! [emoji177][emoji120]🏻

Awwwww yayyyyyy Titan!!! Give him a big kiss on his little, black spot on the nose for me!!!!

Can I ask why Titan struggled with giardia so much? My knowledge of it is very limited; only that it's a form of 'beaver fever' from drinking pond water, etc. Was his body just having a tough time fighting it off?

He was 3 lbs and SEVERELY (uncountable) infested with Giardia AND coccidia, kicked the coccidia, but every time we got the giardia low, it would come back with a vengeance. He was 3.3 lbs the day we got him (at 10 weeks old) and he dropped down to only 2.8 lbs.

He was on 2 probiotics, eating 4-5 times a day to gain weight (as per vet orders), and still barely even gaining for a long while.

I guess he was just so little and so infested he couldn't kick it. They said in a healthy dog 6 months is about the time line, so with our persistence that's about what it took. I'm praying that in a week it doesn't somehow come back! [emoji120]🏻[emoji30]

But yeah basically he was just so little... Stupid parasite! Stay away from my baby!

Also it's a pretty nasty parasite, any of us could have caught it from him. It's not just limited to dogs. Our side yard where we walked him is now infested and anything that eats the dirt or drinks puddles of water (if there was any) will catch Giardia. That's the worst part. It's just there forever basically now. It can live so long in basically any condition even out of the body. The more I read the more grossed out I got by it honestly! Haha!

Yay!!!! So glad he has no more giardia! Wow! That's great.

YAY!!! You guys fought a good fight and won!

That sounds like a horrible parasite!

That's awesome, WOOHOO!!!! :2thumbs:

Thanks!!

I am hoping for good news again in a week...

Everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed!

Oh my goodness!!! No wonder poor little Titan struggled like he did. I remember a vet telling me that the giardia vaccine was developed here at the University of Calgary, and they were giving it to dogs, and then several years later they decided that it wasn't as effective, so now it's no longer a recommendation. (????) I also didn't realize that humans could get it. Scary! Hopefully as he gets older and stronger, his body will have a better chance of fighting it off. And how do you keep dogs from eating stuff outside??? Gah! Mine are constantly eating dirt, bark mulch, plants, etc. Give Mr. Titan a big kiss for me. :D So glad he's doing well. :)

Congrats Titan (and mommy)! I hope you test negative next week and remain bug-free!

Neither of my frenchies are vacuums outside, only in the house. Titan barely even sniffs around to go potty, he can't hear so no distractions, maybe that helps? [emoji39]

Yay Titan!!!!! Such exciting news. Fingers crossed for the next test!!
