📰 What's new

Wally is excessively drooling on one side

Sounds like Wally's better. Good to hear.
We just started using this bowl View attachment 11066for our Sofi, because she makes a mess pushing her food out of the bowl.
It's designed to slow them down when they eat and the lip inside the bowl helps keep the food in.
It works!!
It can be used with or without the stand.
We have been elevating their feeding bowls for awhile now.
I know raising the food bowls is especially good for big dogs due to bloat, but I believe our little guys can benefit from it too.
If it's good for them, I'm all in!
By the way, that bowl cannot defy gravity, for some reason it showed up that way when I uploaded it.
It's on the floor!!
.

Wally has a 'splash guard' in front of his bowl so I don't have to keep repainting our baseboards. He's a slob! That's a great bowl. I ended up getting bowls that sit in a wood stand so he'll stop licking the bowl across the room where I always trip over it.

I'd love to know who makes that bowl!

Wally's vet checked him over thoroughly and said physically he's in amazing shape, he was actually jealous of Wally's muscles. :D We also got a blood and urine test done, but we're still waiting for the results. He gave us a liquid to help coat his stomach to see if he's having an acid reflux problem. He also suggested giving him Pepcid AC at night while we're giving the other meds. After giving him the meds last night the drooling stopped. Sometimes he doesn't drool but his mouth will be full of warm saliva, and last night there wasn't anything so that's pretty promising.

After we get his blood and urine test results we'll see where to go from there. Maybe he'll need to change his food. His elevated bowls should arrive in a next week or so and I'm hoping that will help as well.

Wally says thanks for the love and concern! :)

Awesome that it’s looking like it’s probably something more simple!!!

My 1 and a half year old boy just started drooling like crazy too, for the past 3 days now. The amount that is coming out is very unnerving He doesn't seemed all that bothered by it. Still playing, drinking and eating normally. We went to the vet today and we're going to try some anti-nausea medicine. He said next step might be to put him under to really look around. His teeth seem ok but he doesn't let us look in his mouth much. The vet seemed confused too. I'm really hoping it just goes away.

I'm bringing this post back up and thought I would update the situation. He did keep drooling but it was so on and off I couldn't figure out what was going on.

A month ago he tripped on the stairs on our deck and started to limp a bit. I was very nervous about IVDD problems so after rest for a week his limping was still prominent so we went back to the vet for an xray. The limp was just a swollen ankle that cleared up in a week but it turns out he has arthritis in both hips.

He's on supplements now and has not had any drooling issue since so it must have been his hips that bothered him from time to time. His diet consists mainly of fish: fish food and salmon/fish oil on top every day, but I am thinking about CBD oil. I will research it. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great!

Any update on your pup? Has he drooled much since?

I was thinking seizure too, but am no expert at all. Hope you get the answers you need right away on Friday! Good luck :-)

Ok, I apparently only read through page 1 of this original post and somehow missed there were three other pages. Ignore my above comment!

I haven't used CBD oil on my dog, but this looks like a good product available in Canada https://thenaturalremedy.ca/product/cbd-canna-pal/
