Took Titan for a walk in the metroparks today... Not an extremely long walk, nice smooth paved walkways, no hills...

He's more or less "moving slower" and "waddling"...

I'm not sure if he just over exerted himself as this is the first nice day since winter, especially since he's not acting like he's in pain, and not favoring any legs, but of course, I'm freaking out.

I've already decided limited activity for 48-72 hours, and I am ordering NuJoint in the morning to begin him on a regular supplement for his own health benefit as well as some peace of mind for me...

I just needed somewhere to freak out so any good vibes are appreciated!

He has a vet appointment Friday afternoon, and since he's not in any obvious pain I'm not going to worry about rushing him off to the vet tomorrow. I think it can wait.

Anybody else have a Frenchie that after a walk is just "stiff"? More or less? I know when I exercise and then sleep and i wake up the next morning I'm stiff? Can this happen to dogs? Ugh I don't want anything to be wrong with my fat boy! He's so troublesome! *shakes fist* Haha.

I don't know if you remember Hudson's IVDD scare... But sometimes that's all it is! A scare. With their use of extreme parkour and forgetting they are sensitive little babies sometimes their bodies need a break. Here's hoping it's just a fluke and he's just having workout soreness!! Sorry you're having to deal with this :(

Oh gosh yes I do remember!

My husband gets home late and walked Titan and said he's holding up his back right leg, he was not doing that at 11pm when i walked him and my husband walked him probably around 2am.

I haven't walked him yet (8:30 is potty time for him) so we'll see what happens...

I was going to give him a bath this morning so we'll see what's going on...

I don't think it's his hips or back it seemed like his knees so if he is holding up a leg that seems like a pretty realistic consideration.

Isa sprained her knee when she was a puppy and was fine in a week so idk! [emoji25]

Okay fast forward to letting him out to potty...

He had a GIANT stretch... I mean I am talking about full on smooshing the neck all the way over the face and stretching even more so than the yoga pic of him the other day.... Like a IM SO SORE AND STIFF AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH stretch...

He doesn't want to walk outside. He looks at me like I'm crazy and starts LIMPING outside.
Come back inside after he pees, he isn't limping, just the weird waddle...

He can bend his knee and straighten his knee 100% with NO shaking or objection at all. He also lets me hold it as normal and I can bend it with no obvious signs of pain, so I'm going to eliminate knee problem, but I think his hip is sore.

I had a lightbulb moment and remembered I had a script for 25mg Rimadyl, 1/2 tab daily every 12 hours, so he got a 1/2 tab at 9:40...
Fingers crossed this helps my little dude because if not... it's xrays tomorrow... :(

davidh could this still be some level of growing pains?

Nope, unfortunately nothing out of the ordinary beside the walk yesterday. And it was just that, a walk.

I can't tell if he's favoring his entire rear end, but it's definitely predominantly his right back leg or hip he's using the least...

Doesn't seem like the 1/2 of a 25mg Rimadyl worked at all... It's been a few hours since he's taken it...

The walk either really irritated an already existing issue I didn't notice or he's super sore. The medicine SHOULD have helped. I'm not sure if I can give him more than what this script says.

Well we'll see if he's better by tomorrow if not I'll really have to look into it!

But I am still ordering NuJoint regardless because I don't think I want to explore surgery unnecessarily if the nujoint will help.

Sending healing vibes your way. I hope it is nothing serious and that the vet can figure out what's going on.

I do too. Since he's crate trained I'm not super worried since I can basically hault his activity to 0 but I'm really nervous!

Fingers crossed for you guys! Beezy had a super active day at daycare about a month ago and limped for two days afterwards and then -- boom! -- she was completely fine. But I was scared for those days, so I know where you're coming from. I'm sure sweet Titan will be fine :)

I'm really hoping it's just over worked muscles and ligaments and rest and some medicine will get him back to normal in no time but you know your mind wanders to the worst and induces panic! Haha

Especially with our cute little baby frenchies!

Oh no!!! I hope he feels better immediately and it's nothing serious. Keep us posted <3

Rimadyl didn't do much of anything for us when Hudson had his injury. We added gabapentin and that made a huge difference.

Well I'm going to assume my fears were wrong because from 2pm potty Til now when I fed him and took him out he wants to play jump wrestle me and actually didn't limp outside... Just a tiny bit weird of a walk but he's always walked weird...

I'm going to pray that with a few more days of rest, possibly a script tomorrow, and the NuJoint next week that he will recover!

I'll let you guys know tomorrow if we get any news... Good or bad!

Hope you've had more improvement over night - sounds like he was starting to do a bit better so fingers crossed that has kept up and rest is helping.
