Hi all!
New to the forum and to Frenchie ownership, myself and my husband just adopted a female French bulldog this weekend from a rescue centre in Ireland. She was rescued from a puppy farm and though to approximately 7 years old. She seems to be settling in well though she does need a bit of training. We found out today that she is quite the jumper and has cleared the 4ft high baby gate we have to keep her in one room! Having been previously owned by a lazy old pug this was quite a shock! Anyone else have experience of this? Can't wait to connect with this community and get some tips from you all! DSC_0272.jpgDSC_0272.jpg

Welcome to FBN! Thank you for rescuing her... she is a beautiful girl!

High jump medal goes too.... WOW!!!

Hi Agnes! I am so so happy to hear you've been adopted!

I am a sucker for older adult dog adoption stories and thank you for bringing her home. I'm glad she is settling in nicely. I too shared my life with a Pug before adopting my Frenchie. My Frenchie does jump, but nothing close to 4 feet! Sorry I don't have any tips to share with you on that note.

I would personally love to hear more about Agnes, if you care to post about it. Welcome!

Hello and congratulations on your new family member. She sounds like quite the athlete. You should see if you can enroll her in some sort of agility training; I bet she would excel. However, be careful that she does not overdo it. One of my Frenchies used to jump up and down from the couch quite a bit and ended up needing back surgery. She is a great looking dog.

Agnes is adorable! Welcome to FBN. I thought my girl was athletic but 4 feet is really impressive. I was also a pug owner for 16 years. My male was a jumper but fortunately never escaped from anything. He was a really good boy so had the run of the house.

Welcome to you and your athletic Agnes! We saw a male who could clear a 4' fence when there was a cat on the other side!

So, a little more info on Agnes, she's really been through the mill in her life. We are told she originally came from Lithuania and was moved across Europe for breeding and ended eventually ended up at the puppy farm. She was bred a lot and she lost an eye. We adopted her just over a week ago, on Wednesday she had to be taken to the vets as she had a lump on her neck suddenly get bigger. Turns out that she was attacked by another dog whilst at the rescue centre. The lump was an infected abscess which had to be drained. She was back to the vet today to have it checked and it has gotten much better, no more nasty stuff. I feel so sorry for the girl, she is so thin and sad looking. All we want to do is give her the best life possible and we will spoil her so much! She is settling in with us really well and has managed to blag herself a spot on our bed! She's got a touch of dermatitis which is being treated with medication, we hope we can help resolve some of her problems and give her all the love she deserves. And as a sign of her appreciation she has just let off a rather deadly smelling fart, ah, delightful!!

I think her luck has changed — she found you! She’s a sweetheart and so talented too. I’m sure she’ll thrive in her loving new home.

There is very little in life that brings me as much joy as hearing about a companion dog or cat that had a former crappy life and now is thriving in an adoption situation. How wonderful that she has you now. I have no doubt you will "make up" for all her bad years being used as a money making puppy machine.

So glad to hear that she seems to be settling in so nicely and so quickly - animals tend to just "know" when they are home...and she is home now with you.

Stupid people

I'm so happy that she has you in her life now until her final days . Well deserved . You are her saint!
